  • PnP. Showing really well, a very good food wine. Aromas of apple blossoms, honeysuckle, citrus, floral and minerals. Lots of flavor with pineapple, lemon, peach, floral and minerals. Good acidity with a medium finish.

  • Pop and pour at Salil's. Holding up but not as complex as it was a few years ago. Very tasty and good, but not special. A little passed its prime. Drink up.

  • Tasted at the winery. Previously tasted at the winery 5 and a half years ago and the wine has opened up well in that time. White apple and light, white peach notes on the nose. Between light and medium bodied with white apple upfront, moving to white peach and some yellow apple, even some yellow peach with tropical hints through the middle. There's good density through the mid-body and it's opened up considerably since my prior tasting. The fruit expression overall is now this wine's strength. There's (unsurprisingly) noticeably more structure on the backside than in the 2004 (tasted alongside), but it's a balanced mix of acidity and lightly tart whitefruit/citrus that support the fruit well. Overall, impressed with how positively this wine has evolved in general, the fruit expression it now shows and the acidity/structure it has maintained.

  • Modest gold color. Subtle petrol on the nose. Medium plus depth and nice balance between sweetness and tartness. Could use some more zip but my guess is that it is just past prime drinking age. Awesome QPR.

  • Lots of sweet pineapple fruit but also a lot of petroleum in the beginning. It showed a lovely fine and refreshing acidity and has a good overall balance.
It can easily be compared to the German Kabinett-style wines.

  • Memorial Day brunch with friends. Acidity is still prominent. Still needs time to fully resolve. Softens as it opens. Kabinet level sweetness. Still one of the best producers of Riesling in the USA. (91-93)
Found the last glass in the back of the fridge a month later and it is even better. Soft, lush, expansive. Wow. 93 points.

  • From magnum. A little bit of sediment in this one. Gorgeous profile both aromatically and in the mouth, full of grilled pineapple, peach, honey, and whiffs of petrol. This has held better than we expected. Perfectly balanced acid, solidly holding up the rich flavor elements and very rounded, inviting mouthfeel. Medium(+) length finish. Highly recommended in this format. "Excellent," 91/100.

This Hermann J. Wiemer signature Riesling is vibrant and aromatic, featuring the distinctive minerality that has become our trademark. Fragrant essence of spring blossoms sets the stage for a succulent palate of early fruit, balanced with a refreshing crispness, revealing the true qualities of the Riesling grape. A brilliant texture carries into a lingering finish, in a wine that accommodates a wide range of food.
Pair with Asian cuisine, Poultry, Shellfish.

Wiemer's standard dry Riesling is an impeccable value for a wine that offers such density of fruit and minerality. While dry in style, it's a luscious, deeply fruity wine studded with tangerine and stone-fruit flavors glazed in honey and nectar. It's unctuous and ripe, but finishes with a cool, steel-edged persistence.

An extraordinary "regular" quality dry riesling brimming with lemon, lime-pie, passion-fruit and pineapple aromas. The medium to full body is lifted by refreshing acidity, and the fruit flavors are usually succulent for a dry wine. The finish is at once powerful and silky. Perfect to drink now, but this will age for five or more years!

  • Faint aroma of apple blossoms and honeysuckle. Interesting palate - packs quite a punch with pineapple, lemon, and peach, with a mineral finish.

  • Paired with Schnitzel, Potato Dumplings and German Green Beans. What wonderful flavors: Peach, Apricot and Apple, smooth with Grapefruit Finish! This Winery is by far the best on the East Coast of the United States. In fact maybe the best Riesling in the World. I travel extensively and lived in Germany for 2 years and I love Riesling. Stopped by a few weeks ago and picked-up some bottles . Saw Oskar ( he was on the tractor and setting large flower pots by the entrance ) and he was his usual gracious host. By far the best Winery in New York State

  • Drukket uten ordentlige notater. Helt ok vin, men ganske anonym både på duft og smak. Ikke noe å skrive hjem om.

  • Bright, sharp, citrus/lemon. Not much nose. Smooth at the end. Easy to drink.

  • No formal notes on this one. Fairly generous aromas of honey, pit fruits, and a slight effervescence were really nice. We agree with other notes that this wine is a great introduction to Finger Lakes Riesling, although the QPR is not as strong as some of Dr. Frank's offerings. "Very good-to-excellent," 90/100.

  • Herman J. Wiemer's 2015 Dry Riesling is the perfect Finger Lakes "ambassador wine" for anyone trying Rieslings from this region for the first time. It's a beauty, presenting apple, pear and pineapple on the front, with a slight sweetly, but incredibly balanced mineral-honey effect on the finish. It's a mouthwatering wine representing some of the best winemaking in the region.

  • Tasted at the winery. Soft, green orchard fruit and apple notes on the nose. Just below medium bodied, 0.9% RS, but comes off more like a semi-dry or a lighter spatlese. This has less to do with the RS and more to do with the ripeness of the 2015 vintage. Green apple and pear upfront, backed with richer more open tropical fruit notes behind. There's enough acidity here to keep up with the fruit and provide a good backbone. Should improve over the short term.

  • The dry style Riesling is the signature of Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard. Exceptional grapes from each of our three vineyard locations come together to create this mouth-watering wine. This wine is fermented in small lots to ensure quality and then blended to perfection to create an elegant and balanced wine. With each vintage, we seek to match the appropriate level of fruit flavor with refreshing crispness that lets the true qualities of the Riesling grape shine through. Hints of lime and orange blossom on the nose set the stage for a succulent palate of apricot and grapefruit. Our trademark minerality creates a beautiful texture that carries into a long, lingering finish.

  • Honeymoon in the Finger Lakes; 10/17/2016-10/20/2016 (FLX, New York, USA): Tasted at the winery. Surprisingly good for a multi-vineyard bottling from the HJW, Josef, and Magdalena vineyards. Nice and bright, a bit acidic but also soft on the palate. Unfortunately lacks flavor clarity at this stage, but will probably flesh out in a year or two. "Very good," 88/100.

  • 2016 Finger Lakes Jaunt; 9/25/2016-9/26/2016 (Seneca Lake, NY): Contests between lean minerality and tropicality, tipping toward the latter. But still quite balanced and compelling drink.

  • JM visits Finger Lakes! (Finger Lakes): Crisp minerality, oily, clean, floral. Buttery. Not quite as dry as the name suggests. 0.8% residual sugar

  • (.9% R.S.)Light color. The nose shows subtle aromas of citrus, white flowers, tangerine and a hint of petrol. This is light bodied on the palate, with good concentration and good finesse. Fruit forward. The medium plus length finish features racy acidity and a mineral element.
