Powerful and dark as every vintage of Avenger tends to be, and with signature decently-concentrated soft and jam-dense midpalate but the finish was long, burnt and bitter. Tasted so many vintages over the years; this was Steve’s last momentous bottle of a wonderful era.

As others have noted, this is a well-made fruit bomb with plenty of Grenache character - dark berry fruit, white pepper, anise. This was an excellent value at about $35, and it's an average to good value at the $45+ I see it selling for now.

Whoa, big thick wine. Ripe fruit of blackberry and black cherry with a core of black licorice, smoked meat, white pepper, and savory herbal notes. Nice smooth texture to this wine, supple tannins, long finish.

Drinking beautifully right now! PNP Inky mystery in the glass and dark, dusty berries on the nose. On the palate, subdued, ripe fruit that opens up as a wet pinewood surrounded by dark fruit with a hint of minerality on the finish. Lovely and fun to sip. #StemsUp

Popped and poured; consumed over 3 days. Dark violet with a dark garnet rim. Initially a touch hot but there was so much fruit and spice it was easy to overlook that shortcoming. On the palate, truck loads of dark fruit and spice. Rich texture. Firm tannins. Decent acidity. Drank three quarters of the bottle and placed the cork back in the neck and left the remaining glass for Day 3. At that point, it was firing on all cylinders. The heat was gone from the nose and the fruit and spice layers were more delineated. I would love to have a few of these in the cellar and track their evolution. Drink now with patience or Hold.

First go-around with this winery, did not disappoint. Big, thick blackberry and blueberry fruit with a creamy, smooth texture of white pepper and (dare I say) bacon fat on the mid-palate. Supple firm tannin, long finish, great wine. A beast now, needs to lay down for a bit, but should only get better over time.

The first day I thought this was smooth and had nice finish. The 2nd day, I thought it was a bit tart and didn't enjoy the finish.
