As good a Ueb as I’ve had. Not overextracted, baked or too ripe. A mouthfeel of purple fruit with sufficient tannin and acid balancing out the fruit. Silky in the mid palate. I’d drink right now it’s in a great place.

Dark purple color. Blackberries, leather and licorice with mineral notes in the nose. Rich fruit in the flavor with black raspberries, plums and licorice. A big rich wine with a nice mouthfeel and structure, full bodied, very well balanced and a long silky finish without even a hint of the 16.1% alcohol. Drinking very well now but can easily go another 3+years. 94/95

Cloves, berries. Still showing loads of fruit, but the fruit has a sharp tang to the finish that I don't love. Will see if it smoothes out over the next hour or two.

Powerful. More than expected. Structure is prominent. And then that fruit comes in on the finish. Very good bottle, shows the quality of the source and the approach to the winemaking to let the wine show it's true colors. This was untamed and a unique Zin expression. In this taster's opinion, Ueberroth remains the top Turley bottling and I continue to be wowed by its intensity and range. One more bottle from this vintage, will let it sit a bit longer.

Proven again as one of my favorite Turleys, just when I was getting a hair cynical (i.e., all Turleys are alike). Definitely a cut above, great flavors without being too hot. No rush.
This tastes like Paso Robles. Ripe bing cherries, black raspberries, ripe (almost over ripe) strawberries, violets, and chocolate covered blueberries, but there’s also meaty/savory notes of black licorice, olives, and game meat. It reminds me a little bit of Syrah. Nice spice and minerals on the decently fresh and acidic finish (especially for Zinfandel).
This had some nice moments, but, at 16.1 % alcohol, you have to be careful (first, not to drink too much at once) about food pairings. The sweet and sour stew wasn’t the right thing, nor was a creamy pasta, but cheddar brats were the perfect match.
I opened this now because I wanted to try it alongside the Hayne, but while the Hayne was drinking well now, I think this one would have been better with about five more years of bottle age. It needed a good hour of air, but even then, I don’t feel like it ever opened up all the way. Compared to the Hayne, this tasted fresher, but I thought the Hayne was a bit more sophisticated and, over all, more pleasant (admittedly, I’ve been having a hard time liking Paso Robles lately).

Lovely wine at the top of its game. The fruit has settled down and the wine is elegant with a long(ish) finish. Acid balance is perfect, unlike what I've seen in 2013 vintage of this wine. Cedary and peppery notes are still there, a bit of raspberry, plum, leather, black tea and a bit of cola. More sophisticated wine compared with the typical line-up in Turley portfolio (excluding Hayne). Tasted at 63F, which appears to be the sweet spot.

This is well made, but not my style. I've come to realize I much prefer the spicy black pepper and bramble-berry character of cooler climate mountain zinfandels, rather than the red fruit and brown sugar profile of warm climate zins (e.g., Amador, Paso). This has a lovely raspberry nose with a characteristic Paso dustiness and some orange peel, apricot and baking spice. Nice acid backbone, and more subtle and less structured than many zins, showing fig, raspberry jam, kumquat and brown sugar flavors. Finishes with raisiny fruit compote notes, which I tend to associate this with late picking and uneven ripening, a common problem with Zinfandel. Disappointing and not worth the $48 price. I would take the OV over this any day.

Deep and dark with a core of macerated blueberry and raspberry that is pierced by an acidic zing that threatens to dominate before pulling back. Could have used a long decant.

Tips the scales toward elegance with lush black fruits and apricot framed by wisps of cigar box, cedar and forest floor. Turley’s Ueberroth Vineyard is always one of our favorites (except, maybe, the 2015) because of its elegance and food-friendliness. Drink now to 2025. Outstanding.

Wow from start to finish! Very complex and outstanding bottle. So hard to describe other than it’s a chimera (look it up!). Deep, dark fruit on the nose which was immediately present on the palate. Large doses of blackberry and sugar plum, quite a treat! After a few hours in we were greeted by a long mineral sea-salt and white pepper finish. I’ve had plenty of amazing Turley zinfandels but this is one for the record books!
Very odd with super intense cherry and slightly tart boysenberry flavors with some inky licorice thrown in. I think it needs a few more years to both mellow and expand but was fun now with tons of aerating.

I knew this was going to be good as I poured it into the decanter. Amazing fruit intensity on the nose. Dark garnet in color and opaque in the glass; Aromas of raspberries, plum, baking spice, and pepper on the nose; ripe raspberries and pepper on the palate; medium(+) body, medium(+) acidity, medium alcohol with no heat, and medium(+) tannins; long finish with lingering tastes of raspberries, peach, and floral hints. This was in an amazing spot right now and very balanced!

Was on the fence here....91 or 92? Pnp, this was a bit tart and seemed overly extracted. Through an hour of air and warming in the glass, it gained the point to a 92. The fruit calmed down, the tart fruit subsided, lots of red plum came on, gentle spice and pleasant acidity. Not the best of Uebberoth but still pretty good.
Addendum....as time wore on it became clear this wine still had some astringency/tannic structure to it. It can go a while longer for sure. Still, it wasn't as good as my last bottle about a year ago.

Good wine. Lots of new oak, which works for this balancing out the lovely lush tart cherry and complex spices. Quality zin, but not worth the money. If you like big and lush oak driven fruit, then this is the one for you. I can imagine millions of American palates in love with this one.
If you're thinking about opening this one any time soon, let it rest until clear (that's a given, but most don't know to do this.) then decant off sediment as there is quite a bit, at least there was in my bottle, then let air for minimum 3 hours before serving. It really came together after 3 hours. For this bottle there was the sediment smoke showing through before half the bottle was poured and I had let it rest for 2 months.
Gassed the leftover and fridged. The next day poured off the sediment another glass before the sediment smoke showed. That glass was the best, cold from the fridge. It had complexity of tart spieces that were not noticeable before.
The last glass was big time cloudy sediment. Tasted of dirty tart cherry spice. Loved it. This sediment had way more power and spice than the rest. Was very enjoyable.
If you like energy and complexity with powerful spices that go on and on, then give the Pecchenino Langhe Nebbiolo a try for $20. Wow. Discovered this value at Costco, Redwood City, CA.
Strong notes of dried fruit dominate with a strong ripe/sweetness. Subtle acetic acid (vinegar flavor) buried in the flavors. Very disappointing. We have loved previous vintages.
First time having the Ueberroth after saving it for a few years. Could have waited a year or two more. Still shows deep fruit and spice and dense tannic structure should still evolve.
A bit too rich/ripe to be my favorite but still a great wine. If you like the Paso style (but not the crazy 99 overextracted pointers) you will enjoy this more than me.
Although a fine zin on day one, I echo EGH's comments on the wine's reveal on day two. As would a bowl of blackberries left on the counter overnight the ripened fruit bursts into the palate, while spice elements hold the backbone in place. A lovely wine on multiple fronts, and a shoo-in for fruit-loving zin fans.

Been holding this, waiting for the right occasion to open. The WS 95 points had me excited. Unfortunately, we were sorely disappointed. Porty/pruny to the point of being almost undrinkable. Did the 16% ABV contribute? Don’t wait. Drink now.
Ueberroth is my favorite of the Turley Vineyards and have tasted many over the years. The 2014 is a bit lighter than usual but the fruit is pure and concentrated as one would expect. Despite being lighter in texture and on the palate, the alchohol tips over at 16% and you can feel it on the finish. So not as integrated as other years. Normally my score would be 94 to 95. I had a 2010 Uberroth recently and it was on the downward slope. So maybe keep that in mind with 14's.
Needs to come to room temp and an hour of air then it blossoms. This is a great year for Ueberroth....brambly red fruit on the nose, good weight on the front side going in with plenty of spicey acidity, black tea and clove. Red plum fruit rounds out the experience with more acidity on the backside along with pleasant chalky minerality and more spicebox in the 30 second ending. Wonderful......
Late night follow up after 3-4 hours of air......intensity of fruit is fabulous. Acidity and spicebox support right where it should be. This is easily a 96-97 wine at this time.

This zin, is the exact type to bind your firstborn to, so long as you are guaranteed a decent allotment every year. The vineyard is one of the 3-4 prized parcels, in my view, in the Turley stable. This year does not disappoint. Beautiful zin fruit, refined classy spice, black tea out the wazoo! Smooth medium weight texture in the mouth and a tight measured amount of acidity that brings it all together. Yum. Jim, I must open one of these for you.....gets even better with time in the glass and warming up to room temp. Seems like all Turley zins do.
Wow! A couple of hours later and the pepper coming out on this is awesome!

one of the richer and bigger Cali zin's. While I love a Turley Zin, I particularly love this one. Ripe raspberries, follow through with cherry, and ends with a load of spice. Really rich with some heat on the finish.
Let this wine age another 2-3 years.

Fantastic wine. Ueberroth Vineyard is probably my favorite Turley Zin bottling. Pure fruit, full bodied, yet well-balanced. Would buy the 2014 (and probably any other vintage) without hesitation. This bottle was drinking perfectly - - no need to age.

Our favorite of the Turley SVD Zinfandels. It's big but the limestone soil of Paso keeps the acidity present. Dark fruit and hint of spice with a long finish. Perfect for National Zinfandel day.

(Horizontal tasting of 2014 Turley Zins) From a limestone-predominate vineyard in Paso Robles planted in 1885. Always one of our favorite Turleys. The most distinctive and expressive of the quartet and the most food friendly. Cranberries, just-ripened cherries, whiffs of tobacco leaf. Tight finish that needs a few more years to unfold. Drink 2020-2025+. Tied #1 alongside the Dragon Vineyard. (= Outstanding)

Wow. Talk about slight differences between bottles or maybe I am somewhat biased from my experiencing the memorable flavors of this cuvee last night, but this offering is one heck of a well-blended wine. I let this one breathe today for about one hour and served slightly chilled (59 to 60 degrees). The wine has a lot of well-balanced dark fruits and strong tastes of minerals reminiscent of the soil and the limestone in which it matured. Sensual and smooth in both the nose and the taste, and the aftertaste lingers on over a minute. I am not sure that this wine can get better but I have 2 bottles left to see. Hope to report again on this wine in about 2 years.
Another bottle of Turley for me. Unfortunately I find more time to drink than I do write. Larry, after 20+ years of drinking your wine, you very rarely treat me wrong. Keep up the good work.

Ruby colored wit slow legs. Aromas of red currant, blueberry, cherry and bell pepper. It tastes like blackberry, strawberry and plum. The body is medium/full. The wine has smooth texture, finishes long and has medium acidity.
Drank on a hot September evening with burgers, while avoiding the presidential debate. A great wine, lots of bright fruit, smooth, and satisfying. A noble Turley.

I had a 2010 Uberroth recently and it was on the downward slope. So maybe keep that in mind with 14's.

Typically my favorite Turley single-vineyard, but not this one. Tasty, complex and well balanced, but a bit harsh, and lacking in the usual aromatics.

I find this wine very forward with a lot of fruit showing. It definitely would benefit from a few more years of bottle aging.

Deep nose of brambly fruits. Variety of fresh berries, especially strawberry & raspberry. Chalky minerality, with racy, mouthwatering acidity. A bit jammy.

Really enjoyed this. Rich and full bodied with the red fruits like raspberry, cranberry, and cherry. Paired well with a strip steak and boursin. It should age well.

one of the richer and bigger Cali zin's.

Still drinking well, and most consistent with my latest notes of earlier this year.

Our favorite of the Turley SVD Zinfandels. It's big but the limestone soil of Paso keeps the acidity present. Dark fruit and hint of spice with a long finish. Perfect for National Zinfandel day.

Wonderful zin. I am not a turley lover but this bottle was really great. Much less heavy handed than some of their other offerings. This one the fruit shines through. Smoother and less alcohol than the biale's that I also like a lot.

Decanted two hours and consumed over three hours. Limited formal notes. Very good. Dark. Well balanced. Only slightly grabby tannins. Nice blend of dark fruits and minerals. Well made! Current CT community score of 92.4 seems a tad low. We really enjoyed this wine.

Exactly what I expect from a Turley Zin. Big, bold, full bodied. Ripe raspberry, cherry, and a load of spice. Really great and drinkable now if you don't mind some heat on the finish. Can go longer.

Wonderful. Lots of cherry jam and wood. Raspberries, too. Excellent body, very drinkable, dark fruits on the nose. This is one of my favorite Turleys (and that's saying a lot).

Rich and unctuous, with berry and cherry up front and a nice smooth finish. Probably made to drink sooner rather than later, I would guess. Very nice.

Nose very closed - not showing. Palate is mixed berries and warm spices. Really has potential. Too young, but really tasty. Full bodied but not heavy

Drank on a hot September evening with burgers, while avoiding the presidential debate. A great wine, lots of bright fruit, smooth, and satisfying. A noble Turley.
