Needed a multi-hour decant Nose: orange rind, Christmas spice, basalm, rose petals. Palate: clear cherry, tart strawberry, plum skin, basalm, spice, med/med+ acid, nice tension of fruit and savory tartness

Brought to the Denver Wine group Pinot tasting. This was the WotN for my taste preference but a step down from my previous bottle. Decanted for an hour, put back in the bottle then opened again after an hour or two. This had the best nose of the night, with pine (I'll refrain from using turpentine) and spice. Good structure with some cherry fruit and a bit of sappiness. This continued to drink consistently throughout the evening while most of the others faded a bit, losing some structure.

Denver Wine Group Round 3 (Max's House): Courtesy of Chip, enjoyed next to the 2013. Less red fruited than the 2013. Didn't seem to be drinking as well now. Was decanted for 1 hour before tasting which likely affected the comparison. Preferred the 13.

Tasted after 90 minutes of air. Medium ruby color. Light floral on the nose. Round sweet red berry fruit. Some good balancing crunch. Spice. Very nice.

Right out of the bottle, into a glass, the nose was fairly generous with red fruit. It quieted down for a bit and so I put it in the decanter for 90 or so minutes. Opened up quite a bit. Light bodied, red fruit, strawberry, hints of earthiness, flowers, very ethereal. It was a lot more generous on day two and really just a joy to drink. Good with food, acidity is solid. Just don't pick anything too overwhelming. Great wine.

Decanted for 40 minutes. Medium translucent ruby. Nose of pine scents, brisk red raspberry, hints of musk, bramble, fulsome violets. Young, sharp red fruit cut with brier and hints of fine iron on the pure, tensile palate. Lively acidity and serious tannin. Longer finish of gravelly powdered soil and red fruit, ready for the long haul.

Drinking so well after a brief decant. Fourth bottle of this in the past couple of years and each one has been on point. Showing a little bit of age but graceful, warm berry fruit too.

This smells incredible. Warm and inviting. One of those wines you forget to drink it smells so good. Red berries, Luden’s cherry cough drop, tomato leaf, cinnamon, and showing a little age. Light and silky in the mouth, with similar flavors. In a great place.

Pobegad this right out of the box from the fall shipment. Very grateful to Marcus for suggesting this wine and providing a few of these for me. The wine opens to aromas of asian spices and autumn brambly underbrush. Succulent red cherries on the palate with red berries, lively tannins and a minutes long, spicy, tangy finish. Excellent!

Ready for business. Light color but great energy and good consentration. Great fruit red bramble balenced acids great whole cluster spice. Yummy. Tannins present but last glass was the best day 4 ( added weight and fruit more present). Drink or hold.

Surprisingly this was ready as a PnP. I think the 14 WR is some of Marcus’ best work. You don’t get the heaviness from a warm 14 vintage. Not sure how there is so much flavor and concentration in a wine you can fully see through in the Grassl Cru glass. This wine has finesse and texture that makes it so pleasing to drink. Mouthwatering acidity. Tannins cut the finish but the fruit stays on the front and sides for a long time. Red fruited and even a hint of citrus. Nose has inviting red strawberry and cherry fruits.

Light to medium garnet. Floral, dark spice. Palate is quite spicy. Bright red cherry fruit. Some maraschino. Cranberry. Blossoming after the bottle has been open for about 2 hours. With more air, a salty meaty notes come out and the palate, which was a touch hot upon initial taste, seems to have really settled in. Improved on day 2.
Poured in a Grassl Cru glass without a decant and followed over the course of the evening.
Bright notes of tart cherry, raspberry, and sous bois are immediately present in the glass. After an hour, floral aromas of dried rose petals and potpourri poke through the intoxicating tart fruit, which starts to take on some subtle blackberry and black cherry flavors. Softened tannins and mouthwatering acidity provides a generous lift to the fruit on the palate. This wine has grace and finesse, great purity in its fruit profile, and exudes a feeling of serenity.
On Day 2, the wine has more dark fruit (black cherry, blackberry) balanced with non-fruit notes of dried red and purple flowers (getting more violet than rose petals on day 2), sous bois, and a nice dollop of spice. Definitely has some more zest on the palate, and the freshness is unchanged.
Looking forward to seeing this wine develop further in the bottle, and I plan to check in again after 5 years, but there's no reason not to enjoy it now.

Tasted blind. Excellent wine. Light in color. Mushroom, cranberry, spice, rustic and funk. Classic Oregon Pinot featuring a Burgundy flare. Drink now to 2025. Should improve with some air time.
I have read the discussion about a dumb phase but this bottle did not show that at all. It’s quite pure and charming. Light color and body but bigger flavors than that - spicy cherry nose, spice cake, tart cherry, excellent acidity carrying a particularly long finish. This wine is excellent.

Really had to come up with excuses to figure out why this wine didn't show better than previous times I've tasted it. Had at a restaurant and decanted for about 45 minutes - the stemware was garbage, so I think another point could have been added with proper pinot glasses. It was still tight, perhaps a little more time was needed in the decanter.
The fruit, which was present in prior tastings, was a little too muted - perhaps this bottle was going through an awkward dormant phase. The tannins were still present and the wine could use some more time. Will sit on my next bottle 3+ more years and hope it re-emerges.
This is a "wow" wine. I echo the two reviews below mine. Very nice on open, but the fruit really started to shine after 30-40 minutes. Elegance, complexity, balance, finish...it has everything. Tried at the tasting room earlier this year and became a member on the spot. The winemaker clearly knows what he is doing. 93-94.

A very light translucent ruby in the glass - this would be lightly-colored for an Etna Rosso. Red fruits (cranberry?) with a citrus accent on the reticent nose of this popped & poured wine.
Tight and light-bodied on the palate, with good supporting acidity and decent persistence. Pretty likable for such a young wine. Nice "spice" accent here as well. A wine that will clearly be better with time, but as crazy as this may sound, not bad now (this is not really shut down). That said, if you only have a couple, wait.
This is one of the best surprises I have had in the wine world in a while. I am afraid I won't do it justice in this note. The color is limpid, light red, with a pretty autumnal hue. All at once a kaleidoscope of color and texture present themselves. It has pretty and generous, but light bodied, red fruit attack. It is balanced and just on the right side of succulent, but better than succulent, more like fresh and textured. There is a complex depth to this wine that is hard to describe. Kinda like it is imbued with nature. This, and the pretty aromas of forest berry and spring woods, have given me a world class Pinot Noir that I will be dreaming about for a while.
C: Slightly brownish red, translucent N: Nice! P: IIRC decanted a few hours. Opens a bit thicker and less acidic than the '13 Durant. Very interesting and compelling, really pulls you in. Though still young (if not as much as the '13 Durant), it already shows a lively and integrated structure. This is high-grade PN! 1/21/19: Second bottle. Pnp this time. Consistent with the first, doesn't seem to have evolved much.
Tasting at Goodfellow (McMinnville, Oregon): Winery tasting. This is a more brooding pinot that is begging for cellar time. Concentrated nose is non-delineated today with dark fruit, earth and new leather. Palate is structured and dense. Really enjoyed the raw materials, though this will be better with time. A couple points of upside.
