Still lively. Decanted gently. Opened up in an hour and was very food friendly. Good acidity and diminished tannins lent itself to food and fats. We loved it. Bolognese sauce and spaghetti, salad. Excellent showing for Twenty plus years.

This was excellent and drinking perfectly. It needed time (possibly a decant) though as the nose was first a bit strange with cooked notes. That blew off in 5 minutes. As it saw air, this wine developed nicely. Eastern spices were dominant and mixed well with some earthy red fruit and tobacco. Still a very structured wine with drying tannins, brisk acidity and a growing profile. By the time we finished 90 minutes after opening, this wine was singing. Elegant and structured.

Nose: There is a real fresh and youthful red fruit base to the nose along with strawberries, perfumes, violets, roses, roasted herbs, and a touch of earth notes.
Taste: Medium bodied with medium+ acidity and silky tannins. The tones are fresh with strawberries, red fruits, violets, roses, and some roasted herbs. There is a more feminine feel with the structure being on the more sneaky side.
Overall: This feels like it's still in a very primary stage. But, it is very open and giving with a feminine style to it.

Finally pulled the cork on this one after siphoning it off glass by glass for the last three months courtesy of the Coravin. In the end I am not really sure that the wine was well preserved with the device. In any case with each glass I liked it less. Has become increasingly lean, mean, and green. I admire the lack of fluff and the Old World styling but this is just not at all enjoyable. Again, could be the Coravin. Unfortunately I don't have any other bottles of this to find out.

Another glass via coravin. The device works and i dont think this has suffered at all from oxidation. Even so, I no longer like this much at all. Green and vegetal notes seem much more prominent than before and tannins seem mean and unforgiving. The wine remains well structured, but lacking the dark fruit, tar, roses, and all the good stuff that makes barolo great.

Another glass of this bottle 3 weeks later thanks to the coravin. This faded quickly in the glass and became rather thin, green, and acidic. Still quite floral. I can't figure whether the problem is the wine or the coravin. Regardless it is clearly a very traditional and classically styled Nebbiolo. Probably should just pull the cork and drink the bloody thing.

My first Coravin access. Subdued nose, took about 30 min in the glass to come around. Classic dark nebbiolo fruit, tar, white pepper. Firm angular tannins. Persistent finish that is a bit hot and drying. I can't decide if this would have been better earlier or if it may be on the upslope and just needs a couple-few more years. Just had a 1/2 glass so hard to say for sure. As far as the Coravin device goes, we will see...

Gave a 4 hour decant. Cherry red in color. Nose had cherries, red and black fruit, and vanilla. Big black cherry palate, delicious. Red and black fruit, plum, and a touch of anise. Tannins totally tame and integrated. The goodness would just not quit. Peaking now, drink it soon.

A curious chemical or plastic smell on the nose, which continues on to the palate. Traditionalist producer, this shows good fruit with precise flavor. The quality is good and the odd smell blew off.

Decanted for eight hours and consumed with baked ziti. Lovely nose of spices and something close to fruitcake. On the palate is upfront smokey black fruit, tar, and nice round tannins. Good structure here, and a long decant is warranted. Sweet finish, and a great food wine.

Very tight right now, yielding little aromatics, but I did enjoy the snappy red fruit profile, terrific acidity and cut. Could be great Bistro styled Barolo in 7 years or more.

Amazing! Still plenty of fruit with nice aged raisin overtones. Had a long finish backed by a solid tanic punch.

A lot more depth to this probably at least partially because it has some reasonable age. Open and decanted. Very enjoyable. Better with food.

Delicious. Earth, cherries, flowers. Drinking well but plenty of spine to last a few more years at least.
