I was so impressed with the Monterey version (same year - from a few nights ago) that I decided to grab the Russian River Valley offering (2014). Big spicy dark fruit (a la black cherry) with good acidity and a punch of strawberry and rhubarb - I even decided to put a little chill on this one and it really got that red fruit to pop, plus it seemed to add a little tobacco into the mix ... as it opens the acidity kept everything in balance and there was just hint of white pepper which settled nicely onto the finish.

Decanted for 1 hour. On the nose I got strawberries and cherries. On the palate I got cherries,a lot of red fruit. Some very slick oak. Really fine tannins and at first a lot of acidity but that mellowed through out the night. Medium finish.

Grand Cru Pinot (Harbour 220/L15 131 Macquarie Street): Ironically it's quite creamy on the nose but with stalks and spice as well as black hued fruits. Rich, juicy, creamy, blackberry, spice, slight vanilla, bit of alcohol warmth that is non-intrusive and surprisingly fine tannins. Bit of a beast regardless.

Sweet, fruity, New World nose but not overtly so. Cherries, strawberries and cream, and teriyaki are balanced but hints of smoke and licorice. Nice heft on the creamy palate, with more cherries atop earthy foliage, and a warm finish.

Aromas of ripe dark cherries, light smoke, bitter chocolate, and some baking spices. Medium soft tannins and balanced acidity. Well executed, but not as layered as previous vintages. Score 90. (Reviewed Nov. 2016)

This has deteriorated from the first time I drank it in 2017. Leads me to believe it’s last its prime.

Bof. Rien de remarquable. C'est assez classique de la région mais ça n'en fait un bon Q/P selon moi.

Nice fruity nose. However, A little bit of a bitter finish. Knowwhere near as good as dutton estate. Will be taking the rest of my bottles back.
Disappointing.

Had first bottle of this vintage in Sonoma at the winery in sept 2016. Really enjoyed it. Similar to 2011 dutton estate.

Aromatic, cherry, root, cola, and toast nose. Med-full bodied. Ripe fruit with good acid to balance. Good length.
3/5
