1/6. From magnum, drunk with chicken and lamb cooked on the bbq. Fresh yet rich, this is a high quality Roussanne. Excellent warm weather drinking with plenty of time ahead of it.

Magnifique nez intense d'arômes végétaux et floraux, avec des notes de sapin, d'anis et de fines herbes. Un vin souple et fruité...structuré...étagé. Sa finale est moyenne à longue sur une pointe d'amertume qui vient te chercher. Boire d'ici 2-3 ans. Excellent !

I bumped this a point since my 6/19 review. More importantly, I’ve come up with two “perfect” pairings which may be of help to those lucky enough to have a few bottles. First, try whole wheat linguini with fresh middle neck clams, clam broth, fresh parsley, butter and garlic. Or, mixed greens with a blue cheese vinaigrette, seared red pepper and scallions, and grilled scallops, seasoned w spicy and smoked paprika, and applewood smoked bacon lardons. These dishes will accentuate the earthy, clam shell, granite, and saline qualities of this light bodied Roussane. I’m reminded of GC chablis versus Burgundy, from the same pure varietal, in thinking how different this is from Grange de Peres , another 100% Roussane, w the same score and an entirely different texture. Don’t wait, not getting better.

Possibly being mean with score and think this could potentially perk up a few points. Lovely nose but the palate surprised with a real lightness and I hate to use the word ...purity Mineral elements and all going very very well but the finish just is out of place. Bit of alchohol / menthol dry edge. This did actually receed after an hour so I think a bit more bottle age will just soften and integrate this better. Very promising.

I'm reluctant to rate this, because I paired it badly. But it is clear that it is very pure; wonderful fruit; a little minerality. I opened it about 2.5 hours prior and decanted about 1.5 hours prior to drinking. Even then it was still evolving. I recommend a decant of several hours to bring out some complexity here. There was beginning to be a very nice minerally finish by the time we finished the bottle. It's very clearly a 90++ wine but I need to give it more air and a better pairing to judge accurately.

My notes almost totally consistent with 6/8 note of Mr. Scott; its all there. I decanted this for 90 minutes, and it opened beautifully, except for the finish which is very tight and peach pitty. I do think that will soften and expand, and bump the score a point or two, in 2-3 years. I served this with a 2010 Eric Ripert dish of steamed zucchini blossoms stuffed with crabmeat, chive, and creme fraiche, with a mustard butter sauce. The rich and silky Roussane texture and briny crushed gravel played well with the dish.

Dried papaya, dried pineapple rings, salty mineral, lychee, ginger and lilies. A long finish, with precision and depth, that has such a tropical aftertaste. Although this is enjoyable today, a couple of years will help the completeness. Layered, pure and sultry. Drink 2021 - 2036.
Lots of white fruits in this bottle especially pear. Very light on its feet in the mouth with the perfect balance between acidity and sweetness. Extremely pure as well. It does strike me as young. We won't open another one for at least a year.

very nice last night with curried grilled chicken...fairly light and elegant with good crispness. not especially waxy or heavy in the way S Rhone whites can be

Surprisingly light and elegant, pure-fruited and gently spiced. There is marks of white pepper running through the palate. Good parlance, straightforward right now. Needs time in the cellar to gain complexity. At Vergers des Papes with the family.

Rich with notes of honey and almonds; with air, you get more minerals, balance is here, great future, better on day 3&4. Not up there with the Beaucastel VV, but a very good effort indeed. 92+

Rule the Rhone; 10/27/2016-11/3/2016 (Northern & Southern Rhone): The Beaucastel Vielle Vignes Roussanne is one of my favorite wines of all time so I was looking forward to trying another wholly Roussanne from the CdP region. This is not really in the same class although it's a very enjoyable wine in it's own right (and perhaps fair to say much of the difference is also reflected in price point). This felt quite young when we drank it and while it had a nice mouthfeel to it, it wasn't as heavy as some of the Vielle Vignes can be. Decent acidity. Lots of light floral. Enjoyable.

Not oxidized at all, just a ton of fruit and surprising acidity. Seems to be quite a bit of bottle variation already?
