HDH auction at avec (Chicago, IL): Not quite my cup of tea. The oak is generous and prominent here, and there's a bit too much sweet fruit here. Needs time; I think there's going to be potential later on.

Fine, lifted raspberry fruits. Lovely oak complexity. Lovely sweet red fruits enhanced with excellent oak. Long, fine flavours. Medium weight. Gentle, feminine, pretty wine. Seamless structure. Drinking well and perhaps better in 2-3 years. An outstanding Villages.

I'm opening this young because it was a great week, the right wine makes it even better, Burgundy pairs with my wife's salmon dinner, and I'm cycling with the US importer tomorrow morning.
Is it nice now? You bet. Excellent, actually. Gave it 1.5 hours to open up first. The dark raspberry and cherry flavors were a bit sharp on first sip, but I loved all the rest. Perrot-Minot delivers.

Knightsbridge Annual Holiday Burgundy/Champagne Tasting and Sale (Northbrook, IL): Tasting, brief note. More red vs black berries on nose and palate. Bright aromas with spice, with similar flavors that are slightly meatier. Good weight, especially on finish. Better in a few years.

Ripe, lifted, sweet nose. Fine. Restrained. Ripe yet restrained. Good tannins. Should develop complexity. Very good.
