Nose: Violets, plum, leather. Palette: Plums, blackberries, leather, little gooseberry. Finish: Not much. A little characterless and soft. Not offensive and easy to drink.

One of the better CA pinot noir I've had in a while. Plenty of red fruit, spices, and herbs. Great texture. Though this would not be confused with Red Burgundy, It has something in common. Sometimes less is more. 13.6% abv is also very nice.

This always impresses. Cherries, cranberries, wild herbs, and walnut shell on the nose. Structured, complex, and vibrant, with a velvety mouthfeel, perfect density, and a toasty undercurrent to black raspberry flavors.

medium reddish purple; black cherry, black tea, leather, vanilla, pine needles; cherry, rhubarb, a bit of spice, lightly tannic finish, good length; medium body, medium+ acidity, light fine grained tannin, 13.6% ABV; lovely, nicely balanced, appellation level California Pinot

I like this 2015 Flowers Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast and give it a well-deserved 92 rating. Flowers Vineyards & Winery is one of my favorites and admit to being biased having always liked both their Pinots and Chardonnays. I shared this Pinot Noir bottle on Thanksgiving day mid-afternoon with the turkey in the oven. It is truly an outstanding west-coast Pinot Noir. Sweet red cherries, perhaps both tart, sweet, and even sour taste, too. I think the color and the taste of rhubarb is very accurate. There is also some very good black tea flavor. I like it a lot!

Cooked strawberry, oak, a hint of flowers. Pretty simple. Kind of hot even though it’s only 13.6%. M body (so fullish for a Pinot), M acid, very little tannin. Fine, but not nearly worth $50; I’ve had plenty of new world style Pinots for $20 that were better. 5/10

Solid intense sour cherry Pinot, great with lamb. Very clean with any oak in context. It does not have any extra characters to rise above my score but it was satisfying.

While sipping before dinner, the wine was (too) sweet cherries and, with a poppy seed dressing on avacado, it was sour. Didn’t work in either situation. My memory of prior vintage a few years ago was much more pleasurable. I have another bottle and hope for the best.

For an entry level appellation west coast Pinot, this is right down the middle of the fairway. Ruby in the glass with cedar, birch wood, sweet cherry and cola on the nose. The palate is a bit darker bringing on sweet tobacco, black cherry and a rhubarb tart spice. I think this is $45’ish/bottle, so in terms of QPR, I’ll buy Rivers-Marie SC bottle all day over this, but kudos for crafting a pinot that tastes like a pinot instead of something juiced up and extracted trying to appeal to cab lovers.

If you're looking for some of the best pinot noir produced in the U.S., this has to be among the candidates. Great nose of cherry, perfect balance of fruit and velvet on the palate, and a long finish that makes you eager for the next sip.

Liked this quite a bit. Only 13.6% ABV. Light to medium bodied with notes of raspberry, cherry and good acidity on the finish keep you coming back for another sip. Very drinkable and food friendly.

Nondescript. While not offensive, there is nothing distinctively good about this wine. Light body with thin nose and flavors. This wine offered nothing more than I'd expect from a $15 to $20 pinot. If this bottle is indicative, they are trading the label on past success.

I wasn’t expecting to like this as much as I did (limited restaurant list). Concentrated but balanced, with a nice mix of ripe red and blue fruits. Nice fresh acidity and poise. Nice length on the finish. Fruit forward but good depth.

My flight was cancelled and I got stranded in New York, so a bottle of Pinot Noir seemed and appropriate treat. The wine was medium ruby in colour and offered mixed berries, cherry, spices, some liquorice, coffee, milk choclate and earth, with moderate, slightly bitter oak, medium-level acidity, broad tannin and a long-lasting aftertaste. The medium-bodied wine benefited from aeration and became smooth and reasonably balanced after some time. The alcohol came through a little bit, but without making the wine unpleasant. I kind of liked this Pinot Noir and would it to rest in the cellar for a few more years to resolve the tannin and integrate the oak. Would buy again.

Floral / red fruit / slight citrus opening, almost surprisingly thin in the middle before rounding out towards the finish which is decently long with good acidity.

Ruby color. Cherry, raspberry and floral nose. Similar red fruit profile on the palate but with vanilla and spice. Less gripping acidity than I expected, compared to prior vintages. Flowers is typically exceptional and I would say that this would probably continue to open up and come to life more with a longer decant but unfortunately I didn't have the time to allow for that. It's a nice Sonoma Coast Pinot but, for the money, I have enjoyed other 2015 options a bit more. Will try a bottle w/ longer decant.

Elegant and polished, this medium ruby wine delivers aromas and flavors of red currants, raspberries, cocoa, allspice and black tea. Medium-bodied, freshly acidic and with nicely integrated alcohol (13.6%), it weaves in a judicious amount of oak to go with the wine's medium-weight, silky tannins. The solid middle palate and lengthy finish have subtle notes of vanilla. This Pinot's beautiful balance and soft textures make it a real crowd-pleaser. It should show well for several more years. Drink now-2024.

Plum Market Luxury Fall Tasting (Chicago, IL): Fairly good for a Californian pinot (it's not jammy, so it already beats most other Californian pinots on that front). Shows some high-toned, crunchy red fruit, in a really, really forward (and slightly candied style). The palate is a bit emaciated in comparison to the expectation that the fruit gives. Fairly bitter as well, but I couldn't really tell if it came from some really coarse tannins or oak treatment.

Better than the 2016 ... marginally ... but they are different
2016 is crystalline and delineated

Both great
