We enjoyed a flight of 2004 Biale Zins (04 Aldo's, 04 Old Crane Ranch, 04 Grande Vineyard, 04 Monte Rosso and 04 Black Chicken). The wines, not bad, were not impressive outside the Monte Rosso. It was a baby and had years ahead of it. The Black Chicken was number 2 and the most jammy of the group. Grande Vineyard was showing burnt brown sugar and Aldo's was balanced buy uninspiring. The Old Crane Ranch was more bad amarone than anything else. Not appealing at all.

Consumed as part of a flight of 2004 Biale Zins (04 Aldo's, 04 Old Crane Ranch, 04 Grande Vineyard, 04 Monte Rosso and 04 Black Chicken). This clearly stood above the rest. Drank almost cab like, so no overt jamminess. Dark fruited notes, a touch of forest floor and a wonderful richness. Has some decent structure still, could go a few more years.

W sausage sunday. Still very fresh color, nice nose on palate typical zin of red berries, but a bit softer than you want in a zin. Good fimish with some tartiness. Still very good but wont get any better.

Dark Ruby red colour. Big black fruit on the nose. Black fruit and Vanilla on Palate. Not overpowering and overly jammy like some other Zins. Nice pepper on the finish. Popped and poured. Should have decanted for a couple of hours. Ate with Maui ribs. Great pairing.

Dark purple/red with a medium body and not much nose. Heavy one-dimensional blackberry flavor on the palate with a LOT of white pepper. Left overnight and the pepper overpowered the blackberry flavor. Short, slightly acidic finish.

Decanted for two hours before trying. Nice red fruits, touch of vanilla. Wine was very balanced and the alcohol was well integrated into this wine. This one was a crowd pleaser.

Another great bottle from Biale. I can't believe there is almost 17% alcohol in here; you can not taste it. Nice peppery zin like characteristics and a good long finish.

What have I evolved into - I am knocking this wine down a point or two becuase it does not hit me over the head like so many of the Turley's or Linne Calodo's that I am accustomed to. Wel-balanced with some vanilla on the palate. It really hides the 16.7% alcohol. This is a nice wine, really well-made, but to me not a memorable wine. At $45 from the winery, I can find wines I enjoy more.

Nice ripe berry nose. Red raspberry, white pepper on the palate with a plummy moderately long finish. The 16.7% alcohol remains muffled by the fruity scrumptiousness of this wine! May score higher in the future, I couldn't resist opening this one, Awesome!

Cherry fruit, musty, brambles, stormy cherry character. Aged really well, still has great backbone and character.

Very robust, hardly tasted like a Zin, but quite tasty nonetheless.

Nose of ripe berries and vanilla and underbrush. Smooth and juicy on the palate. Hides the 16.7% alc. pretty well.
