Dense and very plush, with almost plum-like dark fruit atop earthy notes of mushrooms, herbs, and a whiff of spices. The aromas are ripe in the style of California Pinot but with an Old School flavor profile that mixes youthful structure, spicy complexity, and brown sugar nuances. Great length and tremendous balance. Has 94 point potential.

Typical Californian nose of a Pinot Noir. A pleasant freshness wrapped in oppressive red fruit. Above all the aromas of the red cherry, you can also smell a light herbal note of dried bay leaves, freshly picked porcini mushrooms float in the background and there is a delicate smell of raisins and vanilla. The mouth explodes after the first sip. We don't drink fine Pinot Noir that you can talk about for hours. The "Russian River Valley" is voluminous, almost fat. It comes across like an intense cherry juice. A healthy acidity keeps the wine relatively fresh and yet, due to the sweetness present, you get the feeling that you might as well drink a super elegant and slim Madeira. Drunk in a Zalto Burgundy glass.

I coravin'd a glass at lunch. The glass was similar to the bottle I had at the end of August. Dark red plums and raspberry with a hint of spice and a really nice finish make it a most enjoyable wine.

Drinking beautifully. Dark fruit nose. Med+ body and med acidity. Wide, plush, and dynamic throughout on taste. Dark fruit and well-integrated secondaries with herby and flowery back half. Forward, but fleshing out to be a real treat. Would buy more if I can find it. A very slight bit of alcohol at the extreme end, which was welcomed on a chilly night. A real crowd pleaser.

I really enjoyed this wine. Red fruit on the nose. The palate was raspberry and plum. It finished moderate to long with a touch of sweetness. Went superbly with a bowl of fruit and berries while we watched the tribute to Pete Seeger on Public TV.

Hobbs' Pinots have slipped in quality a bit in recent years, but this one was more like what I loved about the wines five or six years ago....bursting with flavor and texture.

Medium to deep ruby with slight reflections of purple. A very classic and very Russian River but not uncomplicated nose offers aromas of quite ripe black and red plums, red cherry, jammy blackberry, lavender, violets, toasted oak and loamy earth. Medium+ bodied on the palate with medium+ acidity, soft, pillowy tannins and riper and blacker fruit flavors. The texture here is juicy and the acidity lends a sense of freshness to what is obviously a quite ripe wine. Tasty for what it is and surely a crowd pleaser.

91-92. Soft, slightly brooding, red fruit, with a spicy slightly warm finish. Not sure I'd wait many years to drink this one (not much in way of tannin to integrate, fruit starting to fade, don't get the sense the heat is going away). But highly quaffable with enough brooding to be enjoyable.

James Suckling 93 Lots of plum and blueberry character with hints of wet earth. Black tea notes. Full body, rich and flavorful. So much going on here. Pretty now but better in 2019. Publish Date: Tuesday, May 23, 2017"
Vinous Media 92 "A gorgeous appellation-level wine, the 2015 Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley) is plush and inviting, with plenty of vintage 2015 richness coming through. Succulent black cherry, plum, licorice and lavender are front and center. Silky tannins add to the wine's supple feel and overall immediacy. -- Antonio Galloni"
Wine Advocate 91 "Medium to deep ruby-purple colored, the 2015 Pinot Noir offers a profoundly fruity nose of black cherries, mulberries and black raspberries with hints of cinnamon stick, underbrush and Provence herbs. Medium-full in body, rich, plush and oh-so-juicy, this wine delivers mouth-filling blackberry satisfaction with a lively herbal lift."
Tasting Notes A classic rendering of Russian River Valley pinot noir, this wine offers a dark cherry hue and aromas of black cherry and bright strawberry. Rich, dark fruits dominate the palate, with accents of red fruit and complex undertones of white pepper and nutmeg. The fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity add layers and tension

No notes taken. A bit more 'cooked' than I remembered from previous bottle.

The nose is A- but the palate is delicious. Full bodied. A subtle red fruit. Tiny tiny spec of alcohol on the finish. Very nice.
