Deep, coppery amber pink color here. Smells like cherry, strawberry, lemon, and wet rocks. Medium (-) body, medium acid and finish, with flavors of cherry, strawberry, lemon, and minerals. Enjoyable, if not terribly complex.

Nose: Same clay loam aromas like the last bottle (notes on 6/15/18). Palate: Thankfully much less off dry than last bottle from a couple years ago. Kudos to other tasters mentioning how this has come together and it has. The alc is a bit more noticeable but the wine is very balanced now with subtle red fruits and a big emphasis on minerality. Last bottle of this and it’s delicious. Now 91 points. Went great w/ mixed greens avocado salad.

Paired with grilled chicken sandwiches and Greek salad. This is drinking as well or better than any bottle we’ve opened. Great quaffable choice on a beautiful February evening.

darker rose color; good nose of damp earth and red currant; a bit rounder and sweeter than i prefer, with a minor saccharine metallic component. Reasonable acidity; Interesting black tea as it warms up. Good garrigue, herb and typicity. I don't notice the alcohol (ABV 14.5) as i taste, but i got a bit tipsy after a couple of glasses. Of course, that means i poured a second glass. Seems more suited for a meal than a simple quaff with cheese in the afternoon on the back patio (first day off after a 72 hour shift).

Mine, and my last bottle. So much for my aging experiment! Deep rose with a golden hue showing strawberry, cranberry jelly, tarragon, oranges and a hit of sherry-like flor. You can't really hide a Tavel in a blind tasting, can you? Has plenty of room left for further evolution. Excellent.

A Friday Night Mixed Bag (Kevin and Vicki's): Copper River Salmon color. Drank 1 small glass over 30 minutes. Very dark for most southern France roses. This comes off riper and bolder in style as well. A blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Cinsault, and 20% Syrah. Bright ripe berries, distinct ripe cherry, robust, more subtle minerality. Good, though more California like really than Tavel for me. I agree with Mattshank's note too- maybe some off dryness here, although it may simply be how ripe this is too.

Darker pink; day one has enuf spritz and acidity that made it too sharp to enjoy; most of this was gone on day two and this became a complex mix of wild mixed berry and savory spice with more stuffing than you expect for a rose

Great shade of dark reddish pink. More focussed than Saturday's bottle which lacked herbs, this shows tarragon, spearmint, cinnamon and spiced cherries. Excellent.

Maybe it was the sweetness of the company I was keeping, but this bottle lacked the nervy herbaceousness and sherry notes of the last bottle five months ago. Good, just tamer than wanted/expected.

Nose: Clay loam aromas with red fruits and floral perfume. Palate: Somewhat off dry qualities with red fruits and a medium length finish. This went well with a chicken salad but this wine needs food which sounds odd for a Rose. If this were drier I would score it higher as that's what I prefer in Roses not that this is sweet, but it seems not as dry as most other Tavels I've had or the Roses from Bandol.

A highly viscous elixir of strawberries and peach pomice, and almost too sweet upon opening. With air though it did settle down nicely and the stone and lavender undertones made themselves known and balanced out this fruit, sugar double punch. By the end of the bottle I was finally thinking that I could be a rose convert it others were this nicely nuanced. And it should reward another year of two of cellaring.

This is a great representation of Tavel rose, a nose of strawberry cola, with notes of cherry, red fruits, tart strawberries, excellent finish, perfect on a hot summers day.

Intensive red/orange color, fragrant nose of red fruit (strawberries) and herbal notes. Medium-full bodied, high in alcohol (and partly this can be felt), medium+ acidity, on the palate again strawberries, red cherries. Good to accompany a meal, too volumnious as an aperitif.

This really does have some great fruit and berry notes. BUT - you have to let breath. Right at opening it's got a strong creosote or maybe tobacco note. In half and hour, this is a great wine.

A lovely wine, remarkable really. The color is stunning, a perfect “pink” for a rose. The bouquet is friendly, strawberries and cream. The wine itself is unique, a blend of 60% Grenache, Cinault 20%, and Syrah 20%, which would not be unusual, but here deriving from three separate terraced vineyards ideally suited for each varietal, a coming together of a wine of unique distinction. Benefitting from the experience of the ages, somebody knows what they are doing. Some of the vines are 40 years old, time for acquiring perspective. Full bodied, improving with air, not as complex as the Reine de Bois generally, but this wine is delightful in its supposed insincerity. A serious rose, deserving your attention, but if you can find it. This vintage should hold your attention to at least to 2022. Highly recommended.

A bunch of 2016 Roses (Western Reserve Wines): WOTN. Deep in color. The nose has nice watermelon with some cherries. This is a serious wine with more weight and body than the other. The flavors carry through. Good balance. I don't see it getting better but this is one that might last a few years. Best to drink this summer though. Very nice.
