Another wine from blue apron! This particular wine is from Paso Robles, and interestingly the winery was created when the owner transitioned from the vine-nursery business to winemaking. It is an eclectic blend of grapes: 48% Zinfandel, 15% Syrah, 14% Mourvèdre, 8% Graciano, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Touriga Nacional, and 3% Carignan.
Dark ruby in color with an inky black core, this wine is surprisingly aromatic with a nose full of blackberry jam, cherry, a bit of black olive and a slight herbaceousness. Upon sipping one is met with a beefy, full-bodied wine with moderate tannins and acidity, and the high alcohol content lends itself a silky, smooth character. Very fruit forward, ripe red cherry is apparent on the attack but is rapidly overtaken by a midpalate of ample blackberry jam, black plum, and raisin , after which oaky vanilla emerges a bit later. The finish is moderately long and fruity, leaving one with a lingering peppery spiciness, though it abruptly cuts off after a minute or so.
Overall, a very enjoyable wine! The Zinfandel is definitely at the forefront, but the Syrah and Mourvèdre do show themselves a bit in the wine’s spiciness and the black olive in the nose. This had tons of flavor, and I can’t complain! I feel like this would be a fantastic pairing with a grilled steak. Hmm, now I’m hungry.

Lovely red blend. I bought this at a winemakers tasting and did not regret it when I had my first bottle at home. Although it doesn’t have much of a nose, it is a beautiful garnett color. The burst of fruit at first sip and the complex finish make this a very nice wine just to sip. Add to that it’s light acid and a few unresolved tsnins (not many) and you have a nice wine to sip or have with a casual dinner. At my first pairing, It went particularly nicely with spicy barbecue ribs.

Rich flavor of cassis and beautiful dark fruit and cocoa aromas. Reminded me of a lighter Emolo Merlot. Bought a bottle to take home from the restaurant where we tried and I can’t wait to crack it open.

Glorious nose of sea water laces with cocoa caramel backing spice, dry slate stone in sunshine, blueberry pie, and a fire burning a mile away. Enters the mouth and then palate in a blaze of mouthwatering fruit and rich flowing forest brown sugar honey. Fills the mouth with bright bells and and amber tones. It's almost too friendly in the mouth and going down. There is tannin, but I expected more twists and turns based on the ride leading up to this point. Very hard to fault the wine for this. Finishes in an echo of the nose and palate. Yum.

Decanted one hr. ahead. Medium garnet color. Very nice nose that jumps up with bright red fruits, a bit of spice. Quite ingratiating on the palate, with plummy and cherry flavors not weighed down by ripeness. Texture is smoothed out, low in acid but still attractive. Finishes fast with a wisp of tannin. At seventeen dollars this has fab QPR.

P: Med body; Almost swtish frt met by an astringent pucker which somewhat untangles itself by the LONG, moderately tangy finish. NEEDS 12-18 mos, then drinking for several yrs thereafter. [As of mid Apr '20, wine-searcher still shows 1 source @ $20].

Very fruit forward. Dark and red cherries. Plum notes. Decanted and waited about an hour. Wonderful but could have used more time.

Fruit, jam rich. Nice spice on finish, not too bold

Fully expressive perfumed fruity nose but over-extracted. Snow cone syrup - too concentrated and over-extended.

Zin based but then everything else. Smells a bit of sour cherry. And big and flush on the palate, with a bit of alcohol.
