I'm assuming my bottle was defective / I waited too long because there was a very strange taste to it. Fruit bomb (almost zin-like), but then also had a taste suggesting it was well past its prime. I would have given a score in the 70s, but not fair to do that since I probably waited too long to drink.

A good wine, but for me over-rated. The wine seems built rather than created......I guess with a bulk wine that shouldn't be a surprise. I guess that also means it is not quite integrated together. Fruit forward and a touch on the sweet side.

I have to begrudgingly say that I like this wine, despite its Lodi origins, high alcohol, overt fruitiness, low acidity, slight sweetness and gaudy label. That said, it's quite well made, and I found myself taking more than one glass. I have to give credit to Michael David for taking their Lodi-originated wines to the national scene with brilliant marketing, intriguing product names and eye-catching labels. Kudos to them.

I am not a fan of this wine. It shows good fruit and fairly good balance with a fruity middle and a short-medium finish. It strikes me as simple when it could be much more. This is one. however, I regularly buy for my wife

Beautiful deep ruby color. On the nose, baking spice and warm black fruit, jammy with hints of vanilla. On the palate, velvety mouth feel, blackberry pie and baking spices, with a slight tartness that is pleasing. Pepper and oak come out to play. Lovely full-bodied wine in which the Petit Verdot adds a good balance.

Revisiting this old friend after not having had it for several years.
Good QPR at $14. Nice juice. Isn’t quite as good as I remember, but that could be my palate evolving… more likely it’s just the fact that I had a better wine last night. On my initial taste I was a bit disappointed. But after further thought, this is certainly more pleasant than most wine that I have on my rack in the $14 range.
Very fruity. Inky darkness. Just ever so slight bit of residual sweetness. Overall, it is nicely balanced.

Nice fruity sweet blackberry, blueberry, plum, then incense, earth, licorice, and wood. Decent acidity, nicely integrated tannins, short-ish but pleasant finish. Maybe not very complex, but this is easy to enjoy in that big, fruit bomb-y way. It’s also a very good value.

Haven't had this wine in ages -- in fact I must have had one of the earliest vintages last time. It's pretty much exactly what I recall or expected. Oodles of rich black fruit, with smoky oak that leans toward incense. Also some cinnamon and clove on the finish. Good acidity and tannic structure for balance. Not a superstar wine, but definitely solid.

Interesting 85/15 blend of sirah & verdot. Dark as night and opaque with puplish ruby at the edges. Aromas of dark and dark red fruits, graphite, toasty oak, and some violet floral action. Fullish body, medium (+) acid, long finish, with pretty consistent flavors on the palate. Pretty balanced for a fruit bomb actually; I wasn't entirely sure what to expect.

Pop and pour at restaurant. Really fruit forward wine and extracted. On the nose lots of seductive notes of dark fruit. On the palate its a huge fruit bomb, almost a little too sweet. Short finish. However, it is very tasty. Given the price ($12), this is a very good wine and drinks above its price point. Good go to everyday wine with spicy Italian dishes which is what we paired it with. Good crowd pleaser. Would drink again.

Typical fully-extracted Michael-David wine, a fruit bomb, but it has its place - good wine for pizza, BBQ or other spicy food where one is looking for a wine that can stand up to it, and this one can, as can many of the Michael-David wines. Decent for the price and what it delivers, but not everyone's style (I don't downgrade for style). I would rate it a 87, not letting me enter the number rating???

Black and blue fruit, incense, vanilla, and graphite aromas. Inky, full bodied, and dense but it's remarkably smooth for such a big wine. Shows good balance and a wonderful streak of spice before repeating the dark fruit theme on the finish. MD did a good job of keeping this from being too jammy.
