Magnifique.

  • One of the best #syrah producers in the valley. This has a nice balance of fruits with savory notes while maintaining freshness. Drinking well now this could cellar 5-8 years.

  • Such pure fruit. Red & blue fruit. Dried herbs. Licorice. God lift. Long finish. Excellent QPR

  • Thin and lacking depth did not drink the bottle after opening

  • One of the best values from the Okanagan. Unfortunately, it was a follow on of an extraordinary full bodied Cassini Bordeaux blend so my comments are a bit tainted.
Still, vibrant fruit and acidity coupled with medium tannin make this a very good offering.
Really not a cuvee as the Viognier is only a fraction of a percent but I will debate this with Severine at a later date.

  • Rich blueberry and black licorice. Hints of chocolate, butter, leather and spice. Smooth, fruity, and with a long finish. Just delicious right now.

  • The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like rubbery. It tastes like rubbery. The body is medium/full. The wine has leathery texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

  • A great value pop and pour Syrah. Very much in the Northern Rhône style
Aromas of Coca Cola, pepper, smoked meat, black cherries, some pleasant herbaceous notes. When the wine is a little cooler, blue and purple fruits become more pronounced, as well as violet; but otherwise these are very much in the distant background
The body is medium. This is not a heavy or rich wine.
    Medium+ acidity, medium silky tannins
    Medium length
The wine here food to be enjoyed if drinking an entire bottle

While I wish the wine were a little more concentrated, its lightness may simply be the charm of the style. While this can certainly age for another year or two, I think it is probably best enjoyed now.

  • Medium-dark purple. Aromas of red fruits, rhubarb, sweat, bubble gum, plastic. Replays plus citrus on the palate. Medium body, high acid, low tannin. Very long finish. Always enjoyable!

  • I am biased because I love everything from LVP. This Cuvee Violette I consider a perfect pop and pour Syrah, great red fruit, well integrated, not overly complex and clearly a little brother to the Equinoxe, but worth the $28 per bottle any night of the week. I wouldn't bother aging, just load up the truck and drink up whenever you want a bit of that delicious French, er Okanagan, Syrah.

  • Did a Blind Tasting of Le Vieux Pin and Lastella wines. This one came out No.3/4.

The nose was very ripe in style. Heaps of dark fruit blackberry, blueberry, dried florals, eucalyptus and black pepper. The palate was bright, clean, and fresh, with silky tannins. The dark fruit shone through, however, there was nice herbaceous, leather and slight spice backbone. This is certainly all about the fruit very little oak notes come across. Drink now

  • Surprisingly solid for a young Okanagan wine. Visited this vineyard in September and frankly love everything they make. Wonderful French style that maximizes the beautiful Okanagan fruit. Flavourful, ripe, not overly spicy but still delivers the expected backbone of spice and structure. Not as good as their top end, but for those "off days", this value choice is really, really good. Bravo Le Vieux Pin!

  • Deep purple with a clear rim, this wine had aromas of tart cherry, underripe raspberry, a hint of tomato vine, and a hint of gravel. The wine was dry with medium acidity, medium-minus tannins, and low alcohol. The body was bold and the finish was long. This wine could best be described as fresh, with sour cherry, underripe red fruit, and a hint of black pepper on the palate. I drank this slightly chilled, per KillerJones' advice, and would recommend it.

This wine was very well balanced and had a nice, long finish. It's a bit expensive but was still good QPR. It has a great label with a lot of details about the wine. I would buy this again.

  • Medium dark reddish purple that is crystal clear. Sappy red an purple fruits on the nose. Plum, boysenberry, charcoal, leather and irises. Medium bodied palate with good acidity. Slightly underripe red and purple berry fruit flavours. Short finish. Not a lot of tannins. Average quality at too high a price point. Rather disappointing.

  • Very strong mouldy smell.... could be the btl that is corcked

  • For those who like the N.Rhone styling - this Syrah carries ample pepper, smoked meat, roasted herbs & that core dark cherry fruit. It rings with authenticity.

Although youthful & tight today, it carries this solid acid-mineral core, with tannins in low brush. Not the richest Syrah in the hood, but nicely focused in a leaner, linear style, & a bit greener.

    Drink with a slight chill!

  • This was slightly less enjoyable than at the winery, but still a lovely wine. Still very aromatic with violets, orange pith, and other interesting flavors. Someone wrote about drinking this chilled, which I privately scoffed at. Then put this in the fridge -- the next night, chilled, this was gorgeous. It really brought out the dark fruits and spiciness in a way that was quite complex and refreshing. That may be what I do with my last bottle.

  • Served slightly chilled. Fantastic!

  • Decanted 30 minutes. Dark purple. Nose was initially quite disagreeable: vinegar (Easter eggs), sweat, and compost. After a while this blew off and graphite emerged. Lovely palate of blueberries and blackberries; with time it became floral as well. M/M- body, M/M+ acidity, XD, M/M- tannin. Long finish of dark fruits. Overall, nice once you get past the funk. Agree with winery and Francois, this is an approachable wine that is best drunk young (unlike its stablemates).

  • Beautiful, fragrant wine. Flowers and pepper. Great with grilled chicken or steaks

  • Tasted at the winery. This has a lovely crunchy fruit and violets, with some nice black pepper thrown in. As others have noted, this is a very aromatic and enjoyable wine -- I preferred it to the more premium versions they had, though not sure how long this will last -- so the next two years as someone suggested sounds good to me!

  • Excellent, aromatic Syrah with aromas of flowers mixed with notes of pepper. Balanced, medium-bodied, acidity is medium+ and it offers a fairly long finish (in part due to the acidity...so I'm cheating a bit here). Could be excellent with grilled chicken or a nice Ribeye steak. I would recommend to enjoy all the youthful aromas sooner than later. Drink within the next 2 years.
