Rather unusual -- This tasted way more like Chardonnay than Riesling. Since Montelena uses a mobile bottling service, my only explanation is that there was a slight mix-up between the juice, the bottle and the label. It was nice enough, but definitely not Riesling.

I liked this and thought it was a great QPR. It had a sort of odd finish though. Drank half the bottle night 1 and then half night 2. Night 2 was actually a bit better.

This is one of the finest domestic Rieslings I have ever had. It’s creamy and candied yet delineated and refined, with tremendous balance, clarity, and structure. Spicy notes of blossom fruit, lime, and yellow and green pit fruit are augmented by sleekly sculpted acidity and a glazed mouthfeel. Picks up gooseberries on the mid palate, and citrus pith and limestone minerality gain focus and traction on the long, spice-driven finish. Spicy persistence lingers long after the last sip. This is going to age gracefully. Outstanding.

Cellar Devils with Jeff Leve; 10/23/2018-10/24/2018 (Berens am Kai 1 star Restaurant): Get it blind, ultra dry, saline, creamy (like a light oaked californian Chardonnay), stone fruits as yellow plum, good acidity structure, very precise in the late palate, reminds me to a Dönnhoff Hermannshöhle from the juicy minerality. Much too young 94+

This wine is a delight. Honeydew melon, apricot, and cured lime rind on the pallet. Viscosity is right in line with what comes to mind with a solid Riesling. We enjoyed this with a spicy chicken stir fry and were so happy with how delicately the wine danced with the food.

Goes great with a spicy food if desired but also did great on its own. Crisp and clean and refreshing with yellow and green fruits with a finish that makes you want to go back for more.

Amazing riesling! Notes of apricots and high acidity. Not your usual run of the mill sweet riesling. Very little sweetness. Just enough to know its a riesling. Drinks amazing. If you think you don't like riesling because they are too sweet. Try this!

Tasted at the Westin St. Francis Chateau Montelena Tasting Room in Downtown San Francisco, nose of spring flowers, apricot, minerals, and sliced green apple, same on the palate, medium/big body, tasty, hint of sweetness, good acid, and a long finish.

Aromas of white peach, cantaloupe, white pepper, marzipan, flowers, slate. Sumptuous fruit on the palate with underlying spice and minerality. Fine balance of richness, brightness, minerality and spice. Medium plus acid, medium body, medium plus finish. Very nice.

Same comments as a year ago. Crisp tropical fruit flavors abound. Even mouthfeel throughout with a slightly sweet but satisfying medium length finish

very good dry riesling. it is very fruity, but it is dry, and goes well with a wide variety of food.
