The cork showed signs of seepage and slid right into the bottle when I put pressure on the corkscrew. The wine was certainly drinkable, but seemed flat. Will be interested to open another to see if the cork issues affected the wine or whether it's just in a tired state.

A bouquet of putty, diesel and lime juice is echoed on the palate. The steel spine is enriched with a coating of oil and balanced by sharp lime. The poise is immaculate and the finish very long and refined. Almost perfection and a really serious wine. 93 points

Light, bright, with good acidity. But lacking in depth and complexity; the overall impression is one of rather ordinary simplicity. Consistent over three nights.

MNB: Riesling and RS: (non-blind - my wine) Pale straw color. Elevated intensity nose of expressive ripe Meyer lemon. A suggestion of faint pool toy / TDN but not overt. Feels lightly sweet - consistent with 5g RS. Has a bit of heat at 12.5% alcohol. High-minus acid. Clean finish, no phenolics.
The fruit character is really ripe lemon. Medium finish. Simple Alsace style.

MNB: Alsace (Home (Noe st)): (non-blind - my wine) Pale straw color. [tasted: Slight RS - maybe 5-7g/l] Moderately aromatic nose of taut lemon, underripe peach, green apple, slight Meyer lemon (ripe), light reduction (rubbery stone fruit). Is there TDN? Maaaybe. Very slight pool-toy/shower curtain. Not overt petrol.
On the palate: 5-7g RS, medium body, 13% alcohol (correct), high acid (mostly tartaric with a hint of tart malic), no bitterness - clean finish. lemon and stone fruits on the midpalate. Medium finish - a bit dilute.
Clean style of Alsace Riesling. Elevated ripeness would suggest Grand Cru, but I could see Alsace AOP. It's on the lean side for GC. Recent vintage - very young.

Visit to Domain Weinbach (Kaysersberg, France): Light yellow. Green herbs. Light weight, lime fruit, just off dry, excellent lacing of soil, relatively long finish for a wine at this level. Good.

Not complex, some apple and melon notes emerging with air. But a wonderful drink for a great price.
