Excellent. This little $20+ USD beauty was rattling around the cellar for 5+ years since purchase and it delivered. Beautiful wine. Vibrant with cool, clear tones that seemed as much alpine as volcanic. Red and black fruits swim in a crystal clear cool stream with some baked earth and tar smoke wafting in.
Label abv 14%, I'd have guessed closer to 13 even.
Nice QPR

Had this at cafe 2528. Seemed a bit passed it’s prime. Assuming proper storage would recommend drinking now. Prune and dark fruit with minerality and muted tannins on the finish.

Medium body, subtle volcanic notes, macerated berries, smoke, maybe a touch of licorice? Super elegant, with a bit of grip, good balance, acidity, long, very serious cool wine. Cody's Italian Wine Class Seattle

Lighter hued, not disimilar to a nebbiolo or pinot noir based wines, and indeed like nebbiolo there is an early browning at the rim.
The nose is a fraction jammy, but not excessively and I'd expect to see this go with some bottle age. Cherry is to the fore, with swirling revealing more savoury and spicy notes.
Considering the nose, the palate is more savoury than expected with a hint of white and black pepper plus blackberry & cherry fruit. Texturally, although quite light-bodied, there is a glycerine element presumably from the alcohol, and also a little alcoholic heat. The label says 14% alc, which is not as high as some, but for me it appears to be a little high for the light frame. No tannins to speak of, but the acidity has good cut.
Overall? Interesting, but for me it's currently showing the alcohol a little too much considering its lighter frame. The other bottle will get buried for a while, as the acidity should carry it well. Maybe try again in 5 years time?

Lovely nose full of floral lift (violets, roses) and lifted red fruit (raspberry, red currant, cherry, underripe strawberry). Light on the palate, some sweet wood influence and drying tannins. A perfumed deliciously quaffable blend of Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio, slightly reminiscent of Cru Beuajo, but different in aromatic character. Great - get more

GMs - Casual Fridays September 2017: Cherry, raspberry, strawberry, roses - very red fruit driven with plenty of floral notes and very good lift. The palate shows a good mix of fruit sweetness with some tannic grip - though on the whole it is quite approachable. I like the style here, it is pretty but still shows interest throughout.

95% Nerello Mascalese, 5% Nerello Cappuccio. Too much Mascalese and not enough Cappuccio. Good fruity nose and yes it's young but having a huge nose and such a light body creates an imbalance on the wine. Although there's a good amount of acid, it lacks some structure, some extract to pull it all together. It may need some time.

Light ruby red.
Arugula, red licorice, clay, spicy, curry powder all nose. Really unique. Light weight some similarities to pinot. Enjoyable wine.

Raspberry, strawberry, boysenberry - a little seedy/stemmy, almost smoked/sun baked fruit, lovely floral lift, lemon. Lactic/cheesy like bitter Bie skin. Delicious
