Decanted for 2 hours, probably would have benefited from longer. Notes of ripe cherry, tobacco, and cocoa that softened over time. Once this opened up, it was a fantastic expression of what a Napa Cab can be, keeping my remaining bottles for a couple more years to let them develop even more.

Prime Rib night at the club. I brought a bottle and they decanted for us. Dark fruit on the nose. The palate was dark berries, plums, tobacco, dried leaves and hints of vanilla. The finish was moderate to long and smooth.

A: Dark ruby with thin legs. N: Still flush with etoh/acid Red fruit, cigar box and dry tobacco. P: Cherry, vanilla, licorice (2016 character) with a hint of mocha and wet granite. Silky mouthfeel. F: Layered long dry finish with well-integrated tannins. Acid and bitter that would hold up to a savory dish.
Pairing: Chuck roast with potatoes, carrots, mushrooms, sweet corn, onion and banana peppers. Seasoning: white pepper, sage, thyme, salt, garlic chives, garlic, wheat flour (thickner) and paprike
Similar to the notes from our Father's Day dinner. Opened three hours in advance to slow ox. Recorked and took to a Labor Day BBQ. Dark fruit on the nose. The palate was dark berries, plums, tobacco, dried leaves and hints of vanilla. The finish was moderate to long and smooth.

Initial 60 min decant. Perfect time to finish up the sautéed shallots & cremini shrooms for grilled striploins. Pronounced nose of dark red, ripe sweet black cherry and black plum. Great depth on the palate with layers of vanilla, mocha, salty liquorice and black olive. Also had this Turkish delight component. Medium plus finish. Good balance and concentration.

Not sure if these are closed down at the moment but I’ve been underwhelmed twice now by this bottling. Fruit seems buried under the tannins right now. Will try to forget about the rest for a couple of years.
Got my girlfriend to go for a second glass… enough said. Super polished and smooth, definitely young and a bit more closed than ideal but an excellent Cali cab. Doesn’t smack you in the face with fruit, reminded me a bit of pomerol as another reviewer mentioned. Sad it is my only bottle, but they’re always selling more….

Hard not to enjoy. Silky, polished, hedonistic and very smooth. Not a hard edge in sight. That said, two nights ago I had a couple of 20-year old Pomerols for roughly the same price and they would get my vote every time.
The bottle was opened some time before drinking, but the wine was not decanted and continued to open during the meal. The medium bodied palate showed some dark red fruits (like black cherry and raspberry) along with a streak of some brighter red fruit (like cranberry and red cherry), an earthy element and some spice. The acidity was juicy but balancing and there was just a touch of tannin on the finish. This wine will probably hold for many years.

great wine here. DEFINITELY needs time to decant. I coravined on the first night, and let the wine sit on my glass for an hour. Still wasn't ready. The next day I decided to open the wine. Let opened for 2 hour's and it started to open up. On my next bottle, I will decant in a decanter and let sit for 2-3 hours for sure. Wine was full of dark red fruit, spices, and hints of tobacco, and leather. A great cab from Bringer. Cheers

Nose has an immediate spice box/cinnamon front, mellowed out over the course of a 3 hour decant to plum, vanilla, cedar, and leather.
Lots of structure reigning in the fruit. Cassis, raspberry cocoa, and a long minerailty. Still a bit muscular and prickly, could use a few years laying down.

Served about 12 hrs after double decanting. Deep purple and ruby color. Blueberry, blackberry on the nose. Plum, blueberry, blackberry, dark cherry, vanilla, and graphite on the palate with a 40-45 sec lingering finish. I do think this would benefit from more aging based on my experiences with Beringer Private Reserve in the past, but at this time it was fairly nice regardless with a blue/black fruit dominance.

Decanted 2 plus hours. Dark ruby in colour. When you pop the cork the most amazing smells hit you. Cassis and stewed cherries. Velvety mouthfeel. Fine tannins and a lingering finish.
Had blind with a 2016 Blind Creek CS from BC, and a 2016 Col Solare CS from Washington. The Beringer Private Reserve was unanimous favourite - nose, taste, finish. The QPR will be a question mark depending on how the wine evolves over the next 5 to 10 years.

Dark red fruits, vanilla, oak, caramel on the nose. Mouth filling well balanced, still a young wine, has enough potential for another 5-8 years. One of Beringer's BEST. QPR is fair for this quality, actually....a good value.

Color (15/15): opaque purple / black...wow, this is dark! Bouquet (19/20): tart cherry, a little cola, hint of black berry and leather...pleasant and rounds out into a full, powerful bouquet with time Palate: (27/30): refreshing cherry, blackberry with a hint of strawberry that has a dry, tannic spine in the mid-palate before softening into a lingering fruity finish Overall (32/35): very nice wine that gets better with air and likely improves further with time. I think this wine has upside but don't understand James Suckling's score of 99. 95+ potential is my best guess...will try another bottle in 2023.
Slowly oxidized over three hours before the first glass. Opaque and garnet to the core, with ruby and sanguine. Blackberries, chocolate pudding, plumeria, black cherries, red currant paste and chiseled rock. So long and layered, with fine, silky tannins that are quite welcomed. The finish remains long and endowed. Drink 2025 -.

Outstanding bottle and great QPR. Dried cherry and alcohol on the nose when first poured, but quickly burned off. Sweet essence on the nose, lychee, honey, jasmine tea.
On the palate cherry continued, plums, slight red licorice, stone, earth, oak. Middle note of ripe celery and herbs.
Extremely well balanced. Plenty of tannin, but slight acid. Medium long finish. Look forward to pulling one of these out every year or two for the next couple of decades.

Three hour decant. Very deep ruby magenta color. Blackberry, spiced plum, toasted oak, apple core, mint, mums, and subtle cinnamon on the nose. Silky smooth, sweet tobacco-laden palate, with soft acidity. Very firm tannins on the longish finish.
This is likely to integrate more in the coming year or two, but currently the barrel treatment is too prominent. There’s also a bit of a Bordeaux vibe to this guy.

Napa Day trip (Napa): Tasted at winery, agree with JD that this is more tannic and closed than the 2015, good fruit, good energy, classic cab flavor, a big wine but somewhat subtle, would drink again but pricey.

Just barely released. Lots of wood and concentration. The winemaker notes. Because we have all these great Vineyards that vintage is taken out of the equation.
Home ranch gives the curb appeal marl beringer notes.
1977 PR WAS all chabot Vineyard. 40 years of working with that. Volcanic soil and rockntheough it. Lots of red strawberry cherry comes through there.
In a good vintagenor.mYbe hot the blend will shift to the mountains. In a cool vintage it may shift to the valley floor for the PR.
