Quite young appearance, mid colour, pale meniscus. Nice savoury nose. Dry and tannic at first. With air and time it was enjoyable. Tannin noticeable, good mouth feel, finish quite long, aftertaste tannic but enjoyable and long. The tannin is well integrated. And if I seem to be going on a bit about tannin, it's because I like very well matured burgundy. Maybe drunk before its prime. My last bottle.

Morey Saint Denis with James Handford MW (Handford Wines, London): Definitely this wine benefits from aeriation and over the hour in the glass it developed nicely. Would suggest decanting. Darker than 05, earthy, with good fruit. Coming to its stride but still needs some more time. Will never be great though

Pinot Noir tasting: Clear light red color. Complex nose of red berries, red currant and strawberry, and some dark mould and manure. On the palate it has more graceful elegance, combining fruit, licorice and bitter chocolate. Good long taste and very nice balance.

Plenty of funk on opening with a harsh, dark fruit palate. Decantered 12 hours; then... Medium-dark garnet with gemstone clarity in the glass. On the nose, soft strawberry and floral (rose petal) aromas dominate black fruit and underlying notes of smoke and forest-floor. A light-bodied palate of pure and fresh, sweet strawberry and dark cherry on a mineral spine, couples with soft tannins and a mild acidity for a medium-length ride to a licorice edged finish. Refreshing.
