Daughter made spring rolls and rice noodles, so a wine with perceived sweetness was in order, but I've been drinking Riesling and Viognier and wanted something different. Looking at the note below, this looked like the match. This was bought at anniversary sale of WineHouseSF, so it won't be available at that bargain price again, but both this and the non-Reserva were quite good, and I would probably pay retail now that I know the producer.

Older daughter said it ended with a note of salinity, and she was right. This is a little richer than the regular, non Reserva, wine, different but not definitely better. The weight also gives a little feeling of sweetness, but it's dry. Lemon, pear drops, a little oak? This might even have some time left to age, but with only two bottles, probably won't get the chance.

Vinho Verde aus den Subregionen Monção und Melgaço. Zu 100% im Stahltank ausgebauten Alvarinho. Farblich sehr hell, sehr klar und eher weniger mit grünlichen Reflexen ausgestattet. Soweit meine Augen noch mitmachen eigentlich gar keinen. In der Nase wirklich beeindruckend delikat und subtil für einen Wein aus dieser Preisklasse. Viel Birne, weisse Blüten, etwas weisser Pfirsich, auch ein Hauch grüner Apfel und sehr feine zweigig-kräuterige Noten. Alles sehr filigran angedeutet und in keinster Weise aufgesetzt wirkend. Am Gaumen sehr knackig und frisch – doch balanciert genug um schon angenehm genießbar zu sein. Die Fruchtaromen zeigen sich ähnlich wie in der Nase. Vielleicht nicht ganz so raffiniert. Die gute alte Mineralik, dazu auch noch eine ganz schön salzige, ist ebenfalls erstaunlich präsent und subtil ins Gesamtbild passend. Spannung ist sowieso da. Interessanterweise sind die 13,5 % (hätte ich nicht gedacht) nahezu nicht spürbar. Schmeckbar schon gar nicht. Insgesamt kann ich die Beschreibung des Verkäufers auf seiner Webseite gut nachvollziehen. Dieser Alvarinho kann wirklich ein wenig mit „einem trockenen Moselriesling vergleichen werden“. Wobei die dominierende Birne schon etwas mehr die eigentliche Rebsorte verraten mag. Letztendlich Chouriço … mir gefällt dieser frische und belebende Wein sehr gut!
