Another year, but no change in score. This is my last bottle for this vintage and flavors and aromas were still active, in fact, probably another 4 years easily remaining in the bottle. Don't you hate drinking the last bottle and finding out that there was still time remaining?

This is concentrated, full-bodied, and quite round, a gracefully aging Syrah. A nose of brazed meats, dark fruit, and pepper. A mouth-coating midpalate features blueberries, cassis, tar and dark chocolate. There's a zesty orange citrus twist on the finish.

Very deep and dense color, almost black. Very light nose of spring flowers. On the palate this wine was definitely a bruiser. Shows cassis, black fruits, leather and plenty of acidity to balance the fruit. This could last for another five years at least.

I never really knew what people meant by barnyard funk. I do now though. Close your eye and breathe this wine in, and you are on an autumn hayride through the countryside. Or maybe cigar shopping in a walk-in humidor. Fruits are subtle on the palate. Finishes with unending menthol. A very unique wine in my experience.

Score, i agree with....aromas of black fruit with an earthy tone. Flavors of blackberries (hint of raspberries?) with, again, an earthy texture. long lasting finish (that you remember the next day). The drink window is now or in the next 2 years.

Half a day of air really helps this wine as it unfurls its dark fruits and savory core. The oak was quite well integrated at this point as it intertwines with the savory fruity finish.
Enjoyable now, though I felt like this could have used another few years in cellar.

Decanted one hour before service. In the glass, magenta-tinted maroon at the rim, shading to dark opaque red at the core. On the nose, comes across more like a grenache than syrah, with crushed raspberries as the primary note, followed by strawberries and a bit of funk. On the palate, smooth if not quite silky, with more raspberries and strawberries, as well as notes of white pepper and beef blood, and a bit more animal funk. Would be interesting to throw this into a blind CdP tasting.

Jonata tends to be one of those wines which in my book I refer to as a "why pay less.". Delicious syrah. Sweet and earthy. But the QPR makes it a wine that to me is a bit overpriced for what it is. I have never shied away from paying good money for good wine, but I don't think I would repeat this.

Quick 30 min decant. Deep opaque garnet. Really great balance of flavors with equal notes of earth, smoke, blackberries, sandalwood, dark cocoa and crushed black pepper. Nose a little more round and subdued. Perfectly integrated tannins give this a super smooth mouthfeel. Long woodsy dry finish. 94-95. Solid!

Did not like this bottle. Strong metallic taste that overpowered all the good elements. First Jonata bottle I've not enjoyed.

Fine showing and seems it has life ahead. Paso style for sure but a nice depth to it
