Dark ruby red with a faint tinge of brown at the edge, medium-bodied, good viscosity, bramble and forest fruits on the nose. Rich, spicy, mouth-filling and a long finish. A perfect accompaniment to coq au vin on a snowy night. Not sure this will improve much, and very tempting to drink the remaining bottles immediately!

90 minute decant. Nose of dark cherries, kirsch, and roses. Dark and spicy red fruits with meaty and peppery notes and a touch of garrigue. Thick but soft tannins with syrupy black cherry, sour cherry, and long lingering. Came off better than last month's tasting.

Hearty dark fruit, heady nose, medium bodied. Simultaneously velvety and smooth on the palate, with dark fruit and a hint of olive wood, and lighter on its feet than I might have guessed given the heartiness. Quite fresh. We have a few more bottles and I don’t imagine they will improve much beyond how it was tonight.

60 minute decant. Nose bring high-pitched cherry fruit with wet oak and some barnyard notes. Dark fruits dominate the palate with peppered beef, wet rosemary, and plum compote. Dry finish of dates, dusty attic flavors, and lingering damson plum. Complex but quite brooding, even with the decant an a pairing of pan-fried pork chops in mustard BBQ.

PnP. Kirsch, dark cherry, and baking spice with a hint of menthol on the nose. Powerful and thick dark cherry fruit palate with chocolate ganache, cola, cherry compote, and wet sage notes. Chewy tannins bring some peppery and dried mint notes to start the finish, then the fruit gets a more savory makeover with orange peel notes and plenty of potpourri on the long finish. Drinking well now.

Dark purple red; dark notes, licorice; powerful attack, remains in balance despite high alcohol level (15.5%), some nice sweet undertones, slightly tannic ending; while on the heavier side, I like it, still with nice ripe fruit although it may be closing soon (?)

2016 CdP (and some other wines over dinner) (NY Racquet and Tennis Club): Another surprise of the tasting for me. I liked this one more than I expected to. I think it's because the first flavor I got was cinnamon and I find that quite appealing. Some red and black berries. Nicely structured by which I mean there is some acidity. It's a veering towards the hedonistic style, but in a well done way. Came back later in the tasting and getting a bit more rose hips and floral notes in the wine as well. Enjoyable.

Quite dark red purple; smooth, intense, fruity nose with dark cherries; sweet pleasant attack, powerful (15.5%), but good acidity to keep any hint of jamminess away; very likeable

Beautiful, sweet, cherry, floral and garrigue notes pop right up. On the palate, the wine is elegant, refined, soft and silky, with loads of ripe, juicy, sweet kirsch to keep you busy in the finish. The wine was made blending 85% Grenache, 10% Mourvedre and 5% Syrah.

The '16 Marcoux CdP was initially quite closed, opening with time to show chalky minerals, with crushed raspberry, dusty floral perfumes, herbal-peppery tones, raw honey, hints of orange zest and wet pavement. On the palate, I found wonderfully silky textures which coated the senses, perfectly balanced between lively acid and tannin, delivering a mix of ripe red and blue fruits with violet accents, smoky minerals and sweet spice. The finish was long--long--with staining ripe raspberry, blueberry skins, inner violet florals, spice and hints of sweet tannin. It effortlessly hides it's 15.5% alc. and ends with perfect balance. Gorgeous!

Reubenesque. I preferred the 2017, which was lighter on its feet.

Dark ruby. Ripe red fruit on the nose and palate. Simple, bordering on overripe and some definite finishing heat. Too much.
