I didn't take notes on this - last bottle tasted in 2018 and this has aged beautifully - rich fruit (raspberry) with garrigue and some slight savory tobacco notes. Fruit has not oxidized in the slightest. Need to buy some more recent vintages of this . 94+/-

Despite it's youth this CdP drank wonderfully with very little decant. 70% Grenache. Cherry, plum, forest floor, lavender, forest floor, bramble, white pepper.
Out of balance on day one. Following a several hour decant Day 1 and put away under argon, much improved day three. Dark fruit, cassis, chocolate, leather, sous bois. To me that says hold for several more years.
Even without decanting, really delicious, and a great accompaniment to a Thanksgiving meal of turkey, potatoes, and gravy. Slight acidity was a pleasant counterpoint to the rich food, and finish was long and fruity.
So much better the second day. Initially it was offering up a sweet cherry candy aroma and not much else. Not the type of CdP I typically like - I prefer a more robust, earthy, touch o'barnyard Chateauneuf. However, on the second day this was displaying a more complete nose and palate of fruit and savoury with a medium plus finish. I am burying the rest of our bottles for 3-4 years.
Medium ruby red colour. Medium nose with red cherry, blackberry, black cherry, black pepper and licorice. Medium (+) taste of blackberry, blueberry, black cherry, black pepper, licorice, leather and wet leaves. Medium (+) long and dry finish. High acidity. High tannins. Medium body. A very good CdP with fresh tannins and a potential for storage. Goes well with beef, game or lamb.

Clos des Brusquières Chateauneuf-du-Pape i årgang 2016 leverer. Men rolig. I ganen er den frisk, syrlig, ikke voldsom men allikevel bestemt. Noe svakt eik.

The 2016 vintage of Clos des Brusquières is quite impressive. A deep ruby blend of 70% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and 5% Cinsault, it is packed with raspberry and boysenberry fruit that is beautifully complemented by Provençal herbs, anise, black tea, allspice and white flowers. Medium-bodied, fresh, lightly oaked and somehow hiding its lofty 15.5% alcohol, it is layered on the mid-palate and closes with magnificent length and a bit of tannic grip. Owner and winemaker Claude Courtil is the godson of Henri Bonneau...their time together is reflected in the wines of this domaine, which has only 20 acres, produces no luxury cuvée (nor specialty blend) yet delivers a superb Châteauneuf that performs well above its pay grade. Drink 2021-2035.
This was genuinely as expected. Fresh red. Awesome nose, simply correct. Even young, the taste is already what I like about Ch-de-Pape. Balanced, fresh, lots of mature fruit. Tannins leave mouth very dry, and almost acidic final profile. Be patient, and rewarded. For its relatively low price, this is proper stuff.

The wine is medium purple in the wine without clarity. The nose is modest showing stewed red fruit, charcuterie, tobacco, baking spice, and fresh mushrooms.
On the palate the wine has a masculine character, something that should be enjoyed in a wood-paneled man cave. The wine hits the palate with an astringency that quickly shows a complex melange of flavors. There’s very dark fruit wrapped in earthy flavors of mushroom and barnyard with black pepper. Medium tannins, medium acidity. Very well balanced and complex enough to make this a favorite. Opened up a bit after a few hours, becoming softer and brighter.
Winebar [4 Whites, 8 Reds, & 4 *shared* bottles] from 02/08/19 (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): 70% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre, & 5% Cinsault; Typically, 70% destemmed with a 4 wk vinification in concrete vats, pumping overs, & manual cap punching; Aged 12-18 mos: 50% in concrete vats, 20% used 228-litre oak casks, 20% used 550-litre oak casks, & 10% large barrels; Bottled unfined & unfiltered
N: Garrigue with undertones of ripe berries (straws?) & poss oak? (budosyu noticed something medicinal)
p: LM body; NICE, amost swtish frt met by an astringent pucker which loses almost ALL its roughness as it transitions into quite a LONG, balanced, very, VERY slightly bitterish finish with a refined swtness to the very, VERY fine tannins. NEEDS/deserves through '21, then drinking at LEAST through its 10th. 15.5% ABV; My EXC-/EXC, the higher undoubtedly after cellaring. 95 pts Jeb Dunnuck, 94 WS & Vinous (Raynolds), 92 WA, 16.5/20 Jancis Robinson (Hemming), & 4*(*)/5* [vat/casks] with a "VALUE" & "STGT" ("faithful to its terroir") from drinkrhone.com ; [This vendor's $39.95 puts it in the top 1/2 of wine-searcher's postings.]
15.5 abv but not offensive. 70+ year old vines - 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah 5% Mourvèdre, 5% Cinsault. Owner and winemaker Claude Courtil is the godson of Henri Bonneau and was an apprentice to Bonneau before taking over Brusquieres. Classic Chateauneuf with bold and dark flavors of black cherry, hint of herbs and smoke. Good focus but falls a bit flat on the finish. OK.
Second Sunday Group: 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Our house): Single blind. Lovely bouquet with loads of garrigue, followed by raspberry and herbs. Flavors of currants, pepper, raspberry and spice. Really open and expressive, showing plenty of southern Rhone character. 95-96 pts.

My first of the 2016 CDPs - I hope they are all this good!
PNP and paired with grilled chicken. Dark red in the glass. On the nose, garrigue, black raspberry, dark cherry and all-spice. On palate, medium+ body, juicy (+) fruit with medium acidity, medium tannins and long finish. Flavor profile similar to noes. I really enjoyed this. 93+/- Will buy some more.
The floral notes pop right away before you're able to discover soft, juicy, plums, cherries, floral nuances and kirsch. I like the length, fruit and depth in this vintage. The wine was produced using 70% Grenache, with various other allowable varieties.
