PnP: Nose: a little balsamic vinegar, cherry pie filling, faint woody aroma. Taste: cherry jolly rancher, black plum skin, still some freshness with the acidity, tannins and oak give a cocoa taste and sensation.
It's quite nice but there isn't a lot of depth. Probably has a couple years left but seems unlikely that there is the stuffing to get any better. Drink now. The price is right.

On the nose, some black cherry, stewed plum, and a touch of menthol. There is a hint of dusty oak underneath.
On the palate, more black cherry and plum, some vanilla custard, and a bit of pepper. The tannins are fairly subdued and the finish is medium-long.
Overall, a good wine and a very good value for a Gran Reserva Rioja. There is still a good amount of primary fruit flavors -- the oak and the tertiary flavors have not taken over.

I may have waited a bit too long on this one as the acidity and tannins seem to have fallen off a bit leaving it a bit unbalanced. Still, tobacco, cassis and smoke all in medium plus intensity check those boxes and the medium plus finish rounds things out. So, very good and for $30 a great value.

One hour slow ox. Deep dark ruby magenta color. Black cherry, woodsy peppermint, dark chocolate, and subtle barbecue. Smooth, dry palate, with good acidity. Round tannins on the medium long+ finish.

The first night...sublime. Silky, beautiful fruit and spice. The second night...it was toast. The fruit has lost its lift and the core of blueberry that had been present the first night. Instead there was drab plum with a scoop of cardboard on top. That said...it was so very nice the first night, I would get it again and just make sure to finish it.

Garnet hued wine, deeper than most tempranillos, with a nose of cherry, earth and nutmeg. Soft in the mouth, lots of acidity, with tastes of cherry, orange peel, cloves and hints of vanilla. Similar on finish of average length.

Really like this wine. More fruit forward (cherry) than I remembered, but still plenty of savory notes (herbs and spices). Tannins are definitely mellowing but still good acid in medium body. Should drink well for another several years.

Medium bodied, the wine cherry and cranberry fruit with light earth and spice. Not particularly complex. Finish is slightly tart, but clean. Tannin is still present and gives the wine some depth.
Overall, decent Rioja, but expected more with a Gran Reserva. It will hold for at least 5 years and probably longer, may improve a bit.

When you want a Gran Reserva but for $25, this is what you will get. Not saying this is bad, but also not great; a thick, juicy, high-alcohol sitting on wood cask but without refined, memorable status. And did I mention, they tape a LAN corkscrew on every bottle...how convenient! Drink now, cheers.

Mkt trevlig tempranillo men mkt frukt kvar. En tilltalande mjukhet och inte så tom och platt som många Rioja verkar vara i samma prisklass efter 10 år. Köp och drick inom kort.

PNPed, the 2011 Bodegas LAN Gran Reserva evolved in the glass, but it never got past its syrupy, jammy, too-ripe qualities. If those are things you enjoy, this is a solid value wine with decent backbone and nice acidity. I won't be buying more. Drink over the next 5ish years.

Again then touch more oak to it with the vanilla note to it. I don't really think they are modern but they do show some richness. But then with acidity across the mid palate.

Big oak rioja nose, medium to full body, medium tannins, good finish. Honestly it’s been 2 weeks and I can’t remember specifics however for the price this punches above it’s weight. While it lacks the finesse of Vina Tondonia, I found it overall much more enjoyable. We drank both the same night.

Deep purple with intense notes of anise, red liquorice and red cherry. Dry, medium acidity, pronounced tannin and full body. The flavours mimic the nose with high intensity intensity. The finish is medium plus. Overall, outstanding.

At our cabin. Dark ruby colour. Red fruit, lots of oak spice, shredded dark chocolate, coffee, cocoa and vanilla, with good acidity, well integrated tannin and good length of the oak-bitter finish. Quite oaky and bitter. Not the same structure and concentration as the 2010, but quite enjoyable after my palate had adjusted to the oaky bitterness.

Does not really taste like a refined Rioja Gran Reserva from 2011. While there is a hint of earth, leather and bouquet, it is more the fruity tones that dominate. Could pass for an old syrah or something. Odd really. The tannins are still quite intact still it seem like. Maybe this just needs another 10 years in the bottle. Could turn into something great, or then not.
Light purple color. Lovely depth of dark fruit aromas (cassis, black cherries), with lots of anise, violets, potting soil, spiced tea – inviting, integrated aromas. Medium-bodied with structured tannins, nuanced edges, moderate acidity. Nice core of blackberries, red and black currants, fleshy but tangy fruit. Complex earthy, smoky, charcoal, tobacco, violets. There’s a really crisp finish with all sorts of floral and spice tones. Three to four years could do this well.

Blend of 94% Tempranillo and 6% Mazuelo, the medium-high intensity nose has lovely, maturing dried cherry, floral, sweet spice, oak vanillin, earthy, and savoury aromas that also come through on the full-bodied, concentrated palate. It's supported by fine-grained, mouth-coating tannins and juicy acidity which linger through to the long, structured finish.
