  • Drinking very nicely. Some years ago we did a tasting of Zind Humbrecht back to the 70’s across all of the grapes and I surprised myself but liking the Pinot Gris the best. I had a similar impression here. It just maintains freshness. There’s age but there’s lots of life. Drinking very nicely.

  • "Baby are you okay? You've barely touched your Char-spookerie." (Chicago, IL): I think I liked this bottle more than most at the table. It's certainly a botrytis bomb, and there are plenty of sweet fruit flavours here from what I presume would be a relatively late harvest. Made in a style that wanted to accentuate the naturally lacking acidity, this drinks like a dry version of a sweet wine.

  • Such a treat to enjoy this Pinot Gris at this age w/ my Spicy Asian Lettuce Wraps.

Nose shows; warmth, it’s inviting, heather honeyed, macerated yellow peach, apricots, overripe pineapple, lychees, marmalade jam, lime & lemon pulp, dry, sandy soils, some very, soft white spice, limestone powder, understated mix of dry & fresh herbs & withering; yellow & white lilies & spring flowers.

The body is rich, thick, waxy and lush. full honey notes, macerated yellow peach, apricots, overripe pineapple, lychees, marmalade jam, lime & lemon pulp, pink grapefruit, some blood orange, overripe melons, dry, sandy soils, chalk powder, sun tea, some very, delicate, white spice, slivered almonds w/ skin, limestone powder, hint of mint, saline hue, dry twig, understated mix of dry & fresh herbs & withering; yellow & white lilies & spring flowers. The acidity is round, excellent & beautiful. The finish is well balanced, smooth wrapped in smooth. elegance defined with bold fruits falling onto some of the softest, dry, elegant, beautiful minerality I’ve had. Her age & beauty are on full display. Nothing tired about this 96.

  • 14.0% abv. Light gold color. Cork was wet to top, signs of past seepage under (purple?) foil. Initially matchstick/reduction on pnp. After 30min open that turned to saltines, tropical fruit and hint of citrus. Significant improvement after 1hr, shows brightness, juicy acid, mango, melon, tangerine pound cake. Long vibrant finish that shows heat of alcohol intermingled with fruit. If well stored, should be enjoyable for a few more years.

  • Medium gold. The aromas are initially intensely sweet and tropical--lychee, apricot and orange blossom. What follows reads as semi-sweet or even off dry on the palate, with good balancing acidity on the long finish. Over time, in the glass, some of the sweetness faded and was replaced by notes of Darjeeling tea and minerals. A beautiful, singular wine, light on its feet for Alsatian Pinot Gris and a great match for Thai food. Suspect this is at peak but no signs of fading.

  • Still in great shape. Some earlier openings were not. Classic golden color classic pino. Sad there is only 1 bottle left. She went from a floosy to a gorgeous tpg. Honey beeswax its all there.

  • Drunk at Norbert's restaurant, Bergheim, Alsace. Suggested by the very helpful sommelier.Golden. Nose of citrus peel and white fruit and blossom and some spicy smokiness. Rich complex wine that has minor residual sugar that went very with food; matched pork mignon in a cream sauce and duck very well. Good acidity has kept this fresh and seems to have plenty of life in it. Interesting mineral back-bone and persistent finish. Really wonderful and one to choose if you come across it.

  • Dinner at Eleven Madison Park: Terrific wine -- intense nose of dried apricots, a little orange peel, and a load of spice; sweet yet perfectly balanced, massively intense on the palate but with a streamlined focus wound up in minerals, with dried fruits, quince paste, and a long and intense finish that ends spicy and a bit bitter, akin to a Gewurztraminer. Delicious on its own and with food.

  • Beautiful. Ripe, round and succulent. A late harvest wine with significant risidual sugar for Trimbach. Very elegant and supurb with scallops in truffle reduction sauce.

  • This is some powerful juice. Very idiosyncratic, very individual, very impressive. I appreciated it more than I enjoyed it, but there's no doubting the intense concentration. The fruit is more dried than fresh, with apricot , starfruit and peachpit surrounding a core of intense minerality. I imagine it's now mature. It needs some Asian food to play with.
