  • Drinking very nicely. Some years ago we did a tasting of Zind Humbrecht back to the 70’s across all of the grapes and I surprised myself but liking the Pinot Gris the best. I had a similar impression here. It just maintains freshness. There’s age but there’s lots of life. Drinking very nicely.

  • "Baby are you okay? You've barely touched your Char-spookerie." (Chicago, IL): I think I liked this bottle more than most at the table. It's certainly a botrytis bomb, and there are plenty of sweet fruit flavours here from what I presume would be a relatively late harvest. Made in a style that wanted to accentuate the naturally lacking acidity, this drinks like a dry version of a sweet wine.

  • Such a treat to enjoy this Pinot Gris at this age w/ my Spicy Asian Lettuce Wraps.

Nose shows; warmth, it’s inviting, heather honeyed, macerated yellow peach, apricots, overripe pineapple, lychees, marmalade jam, lime & lemon pulp, dry, sandy soils, some very, soft white spice, limestone powder, understated mix of dry & fresh herbs & withering; yellow & white lilies & spring flowers.

The body is rich, thick, waxy and lush. full honey notes, macerated yellow peach, apricots, overripe pineapple, lychees, marmalade jam, lime & lemon pulp, pink grapefruit, some blood orange, overripe melons, dry, sandy soils, chalk powder, sun tea, some very, delicate, white spice, slivered almonds w/ skin, limestone powder, hint of mint, saline hue, dry twig, understated mix of dry & fresh herbs & withering; yellow & white lilies & spring flowers. The acidity is round, excellent & beautiful. The finish is well balanced, smooth wrapped in smooth. elegance defined with bold fruits falling onto some of the softest, dry, elegant, beautiful minerality I’ve had. Her age & beauty are on full display. Nothing tired about this 96.

  • 14.0% abv. Light gold color. Cork was wet to top, signs of past seepage under (purple?) foil. Initially matchstick/reduction on pnp. After 30min open that turned to saltines, tropical fruit and hint of citrus. Significant improvement after 1hr, shows brightness, juicy acid, mango, melon, tangerine pound cake. Long vibrant finish that shows heat of alcohol intermingled with fruit. If well stored, should be enjoyable for a few more years.
