Showed up better than a top 1er burgundy from 2008. I'd still be inclined to hold rather than open any more bottles at this stage. Taste is long and lush but still primary at this stage. I'm a huge Baudry fan but enjoyed young Grezeaux nearly as much as this (at this young stage).

Garnet; initially reductive, sauvage notes, red fruits, savoury; some tannins. mid-weight, has a certain breed, supple ; measured finish. Very long. Drink now & over next decade.

Too young to properly judge, but I suspect this will be superb. It's behind a granite wall right now (reminiscent of a good St Joseph or Cornas) but all to play when it emerges. perhaps 5 years from now to revisit? Suspect this has the balance and depth to be equal to the '10

-- decanted 1.5 hrs before initial taste -- -- tasted non-blind over 3 hrs. --
NOSE: expressive; typical pyrazine note (medium strength); plummy blackberry; stony; light, sweet black licorice note on the first pour, after somehow surviving in my glass for a full hour; tightened-up about 4 hrs. after opening, but make no mistake about it: simply awesome aromatics on display here!
BODY: garnet-violet color of great depth; medium body.
TASTE: tannic; very high acidity; plums and blackberries and dark, juicy, red berries; some garrigue pushes forward on the finish; noticeable pyrazine; tightened-up on the palate, too, after being open for about 4 hrs.. This was my first check-in with this vintage. I'm going to try to keep my hands OFF for the next few years. This is an extremely impressive vintage for this bottling.

An immense wine. The most concentrated, structured Baudry I've ever tasted. Yes, my first time with this cuvée but for me on top of Clos Guillot and Les Grézeaux. Somewhat enjoyable now but will be quite interesting 5-10 years from now.

Incredibly structured, powerhousr Chinon. Opened it and there was a deep earthy funk and charred earth note. The tannins were tightcand the wine was closed from the first sip. But over time it started opening up, showing red and green pepper pyrazinic notes, herbs and weathered wood notes. On the second day, the tannins mellowd out and the wine became even more enjoyable on the palate. Definately could us a decant, but overall phenomenal wine.

Advanced colour, pale garnet, crimson rim; some reduction which quickly blows off, busy with red fruits, a savoury edge; plenty of sleek tannins, refreshing acidity, mid-weight; good definition to very long finish. Shows breed. Gives this a couple years.

On the heels of ‘16 Guillot. This is equally good, though maybe a bit more restrained at this point. Still a pleasure to drink now, and will be fun to follow both over the coming years.

Tasted at the domaine from barrel: dark, very concentrated, mix from red and black fruit, reserved, not too accessible, very long, for me a great wine which needs a long cellaring, a Chinon can hardly be better than this one.

Very full bodied. Strong initial flavours of pepper and tobacco. Very minerally on the nose. Mellowed out with flavours of forest fruit.

Nose - sour cherry
Mouth - full fruited, lovely tart. Acidity really singing here needs years to gain complexity but enjoyable young.

Tasting on Friday, 19th July at Domaine Bernard Baudry, Cravant les coteaux: black fruit, full, dense and a lot of power, the typical saltyness of the terroir is here, this is a wine for long cellaring.

Very young, embryonic, but the beautiful core is there. This will be truly excellent in time. Ten years?
