What a treat to drink Rousseau! Taken to a restaurant and let breathe in Zalto Burgundy glasses. Beautiful if on the young side. Perfectly balanced stewed and red fruit almost Zen-like. Some morelo cherry, green stem, and hawthorn bush notes. In time a touch of mint. This did close up some towards the glass. 95-96 now with upside in a few years.

Rousseau dinner at Jade Palace: When blinded, I said that this was the standout wine by far and I hoped that it wouldn't be the Rousseau CSJ. Gorgeous, lifted nose of fresh berries. Had a sensual, silky palate, I don't use minerality for reds often but that was present in spades here. Very much an iron fist in a velvet glove with incredible depth, when I was tasting the wine it kept giving and uncovering additional layers of dark cherry fruit. So seamless and truly a wish-you-were-here sort of wine. A bucket-list wine that lived up to expectations and more.
Grand Jury du Vin - Republic of Georgia; 11/1/2023-11/9/2023 (Republic of Georgia then stopover in Paris and Dijon): Expressive nose displaying cool concentrated black fruit, fresh blackberry, black cherry, a hint of licorice, dark flowers, sap, light caramel, dark spices and earth. Excellent concentration, nicely layered pure black fruit, silky, generous and nicely detailed, perfect amount of acidity, strong mineral, and a long concentrated black fruit driven finish with dark flowers at the end. This is not as good as the exquisite bottle from the 22 trip.

Floral, blue berries nose. Raspberry/strawberry notes. Elegant, nicely weighted and open for business vs the CLDR 2017 tasted alongside. Enjoyed this tonight. 95/96

A bit of an "outlier" given the '17s I've come across/tasted where most were all giving and showy, not to mention delicious & tasty... This '17 CSJ was so darn tight & brooding, not giving much at all - bouquet nor palate. Just so clamped up. Warrant another try in a few years' time...

2022 Excellent Burgundy Adventure; 10/31/2022-11/6/2022 (Burgundy): Explosive nose displaying perfectly ripe concentrated black fruit, blackberry, blackberry concentrate, black cherry, light caramel, mocha, floral perfume, dark spices and limestone. Excellent concentration, unbelievably layered, silky and weightless, incredible finesse, balance and harmony, and a seamless long exquisite black fruit driven floral finish. After a long day and so many hours, this is so lively and expressive. The wine that lifts my spirit.

Côte de Nuits Tasting (Freiheit Vinothek, Ulm, Germany): Glass: Zwiesel Sensory Burgundy Wine opened and decanted 1-2h before the tasting. Tasted double blind. Clear, medium+ deep ruby. Clean nose, fine red fruit, some lactic notes. On the palate lots of extract, some sweetness, deep, dense, cool, balanced, elegant, fine tannin, good length. I don’t know if I like it or hate it due to the dominant sweetness… 92-93+

Lucky enough to taste this en primeur side by side the Clos Chateau and Charmes. The Clos St Jacques proved as one might reasonably expect the very best of those three - although may I add that all three were genuinely awesome. The Clos St Jacques had a lovely powdery, gravely and mineral dimension to it in addition to the very pure fruit which all three had in common. Obviously going to be a great wine. 94-97

Super beau sur les fruits rouges. On sent bien l’effet 2017. Longue finale sur les petits fruits. Excellent

Beautifully sweet red and blue fruit against a mineral backdrop. Great depth and balance. Long and silky finish. Very primary but so tasty right now.

During a Paulee dinner, so only brief impressions. Youthful, but very promising. Tannins softer than other vintages I had from this. Best after 2030.
