Time has made this wine so much better than my first bottle shortly after release. This is a lightweight red with the palate softness of graphite. Predominate flavors are not fruit-forward but instead pencil lead, herbs, dried flowers. Fruit flavors are dehydrated strawberry and cherry. I adore the rare lightweight red with dry/earthy beauty absent off notes. This delivers.

(from memory) Deep ruby, inviting nose of cherry, red currant, and black raspberry with underlying notes of tar, earth and spice, structured but approachable on the palate with red fruits, savory notes, firm but well integrated tannins and plum acidity, finishes long with more red fruit, strong minerality, lots of spice, and touches of earth

Tasted blind. Was very tannic at first, with air started giving off notes of white pepper similar to a Northern Rhône. Nice but I wasn’t thrilled with it.

Red licorice and maraschino cherry on the palate, with the more complex nose adding minerals and juniper into the mix. Medium acidity. This is all about rich fruit wrapped in an elegant, lightweight frame. So easy to drink, hiding its listed 14.5% alcohol very well.
This was expressive from the first taste, just as the last one was about four hours later. My impression is that this will not decline anytime soon, but probably doesn't have a lot of upside either.

Vibrant red, lustrous. Reserved, soft plum, dark cherry, licorice. Supple, excellent balance and poise, fine furry tannins, good acidity. Blueberry, damson, cassis, a dark spice edge, a little charcoal, delicious fruit and spice combination. Lovely style and flavours.

What a nice surprise! Loads of red fruit, acidity, hints of basil, and roasted Serrano ham. PnP, but rocks at the hour mark. Held back a little for day 2. A red wine that pairs well with summer fare.

Once again the wine has a reserved and restrained aromatic nose. Frankly hard to find. In mouth the wine is refined and elegant. While the wine appears well balanced it needs more time to emerge.

Pop and pour and saved half in a 375ml bottle to taste another day. (The wine was so enjoyable that "another day" turned into "later that evening.") Ruby garnet color. Clear. Wonderful nose of rocks and roses. Bright red berries on the palate with that lovely rose petal, and followed by spice, tangerine peel, and saline finish. This has the elegance you might find in a high quality red Burgundy or California pinot noir from a cool climate site (i.e. Sonoma Coast). Delicious. Blend of Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio, but not sure of the relative percentages. Still delicious when tasted the following day. Wine showing the mineral/rock elements but with that fresh, tangy acidity and rose petal notes. Very enjoyable.

this has huge potential, and great PQR, young to drink now, the palate needs to settle tannin and acidity, but this is good for the wine, try again in 5-8yrs, possibly will drink for 15-20yrs. Lovely nose, very Burgundian in style. Early days to rate this wine, potentially 93+

Tenuta delle Terre Nere (CAVE SA, Switzerland): Full on intensity of aromas on the nose (bacon, tar, black cherries). Magnificent on the palate, huge wine, it's long and complex and weighty and balanced. Ample and wide [Horizontal vs the Carderara (that was tasted stright after in the same flight) that is more vertical]. Excellent wine.

Restrained aromatics, rose bud mostly and with a strong cherry background. On the palette the wine is thin and lacks fruit, but it is also refined and it is elegant. Great balance and during the evening the tannins continued to emerge and dominate. I think this wine is too young to evaluate fully but has the firepower to evolve into to something greater.

The 2016 San Lorenzo Rosso is an absolutely brilliant effort from Marco de Grazia. Sourced from vines that are more than 70 years at an altitude is 750 meters above sea level, in the contrada San Lorenzo. The terroir is originated by lava flows and volcanoclastic deposits related to the activity of the the Ellittico eruptive center, which dates back from 60,000 to 15,000 years ago. Only two Contrade in Etna out of hundreds and hundreds are “pure” terroir Ellittico: Calderara and San Lorenzo. In this vintage San Lorenzo stands out amongst the most compelling of all the Contrada wines from Terre Nere. Composed of 98% Nerello Mascalese and 2% Nerello Cappuccio this beings with gorgeous aromatics of wild strawberries, raspberries and cherries woven together with sweet exotic spices, citrus zest, herbs and smoke all taking shape in the glass. On the palate this is simply stunning, as it possesses a fabulous velvety texture with remarkable concentration. It continues to impress with its beautiful pure fruit, which is framed by lovely acidity, keeping it fresh and lively through the long finish. While this is simply delicious now, it also has the building blocks for wonderful future ahead. Would love to see this beauty again in a few years.

The nose showed crushed stone up front, followed by lifted red florals, dried citrus, notes of fresh strawberry and dusty soil. On The palate, I found silky textures as a rush of spicy, ripe black cherry flooded the senses, remaining fresh and invigorating with zesty acidity and a twang of bitter herbs. The finish was long and spicy with lingering sweet red fruits, saturating tannin and a twang of bitter herbs.

Medium red with a purple tone - looks young
Fabulous and rich nose of red fruits, licorice and some spices.
Tannins are still very present in the mouth - and dominates over the refined red fruit in the palate. Very good length
Very promising nerello mascalese - much too young - will wait at least 5 years ti open my next bottle - will probably score much higher then
