Some frost damage resulted in less crop therefore blend was adjusted accordingly, 75% CS, 10% Merlot, 10% CF and 5% PV. Deep garnet colour, ruby hue. Intense aroma of funky cassis, farmyard, cherries, leather, damp earth, pencil lead, bay leaves. Medium+ body, rich and fresh with medium+ intensity flavours of cassis, plums, roasted meat along farmyard notes, high finely grained tannins, medium+ acidity.

On opening, pleaseantly fragrant with cedar on nose, similar on palate, not too much else. Decanted for about five hours, not much evolution, mild tannins and some dark fruit showing through but still very cedar dominant. Somewhat thin with a shortish finish. Enjoyable enough but poor QPR.

Two and a half hour double decant. Very deep brick red magenta color, with slight rim fade. Lavender, tobacco, straw, black cherry, and subtle Andes mint on the earthy nose. Smooth, dry palate. Firm, lower intensity tannins on the longish finish.

Opened and served. Not the best of vintages and also the fact that is still young doesn’t help it either. We felt they made the best of a bad situation in a way but still not a great wine and unfortunately the provenance of it will always command a high price in a restaurant and will struggle to justify the price. 88

Vegetal and medium fruit, not to everyone's tastes, but I kind of like it. Some may think it's too young to drink now, but based on my experience (I've had a vertical of 8 vintages before) the Tertre is good for drinking in 2 windows - either within first 5 years or on the 10 ~ 15 year mark. It closes down in the 5 ~ 10 year mark, and falls off a cliff after 20 years.

It is always a wine to be enjoyed soon and in this vintage there is no exception, although the echoes of a fragrant and fruity wine have given space to a more chocolatey and dense elaboration where the notes of licorice and violets prevail. It still retains essences of its glorious past but is so modern now that I seriously question its 5th class.

Medium-bodied, with fresh, ripe, crisp red fruits, touches of herbs, forest leaf and peppery spices on the nose. Fresh and bright on the palate, with lifted red berries in the finish, give this at least 5 or more years before pulling a cork.

This is very raspberry and pencil dominated, almost in a mini-Margaux (chateau not commune) way. I expected to find this a bit more floral, but it might simply have been where this bottle was (or where I was) at the moment. Regardless, the clipped finish is a bit disappointing and this should probably be consumed on the younger side. 90-91

2017 UGC Des Bordeaux, San Francisco, nose of red and black fruit, medium/big body, medium amount of soft tannins, needs 3 years to peak, tasty, rich, lovely fruit, higher acid than most today, and long finish, merit a higher score down the road probably.

Bordeaux 2017 En Primeur - In Bottle Tasting (Montreal): This was fine, however really summarizes the struggles of the 2017 vintage, the fruit was lacking and even though an effort was made in the cellar the wine finished lacking any sort of complexity.

Floral, perfumed nose - ripe fruit, rather soft, spices, tobacco. Nicely balanced on the palate, juicy, fresh, well integrated tannins. Medium length. Quite linear. 89-90+

Walk into a flower store with a basket of cherries and you get the idea, especially if you add peppery spice, tobacco leaf and wet earth. Soft, polished, refined and sweet, the tannins are silky, the fruits are juicy and there is length. This is going to be delicious in its youth, and it will age well too! From a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, the wine reached 13.5% alcohol with a pH of 3.9. The harvest took place from September 14 until October 2. Due to the frost, they lost 35% of the crop.

Amsterdam UGCB Tasting and Winemakers' Dinner (Beurs van Berlage / Eden Hotel): Trade tasting, brief note. Juicy, supple, flowing to the point of being easy, light and refined tannins, slightly meaty, generous but not very precise.

During a 2017 en Primeur walkabout tasting. A bit soft and simple, aromas of cloves, toast, vanilla. Decent but nothing to write home about.
