Showing well at this young age, but would benefit from more time in bottle. The mid-palate is a bit dull because of its youth, but will develop over time.

Excellent wine. Drank at St. Martin for Sam’s dad’s birthday. Recommended by the sommelier. Earthy aroma, but wasn’t able to pick out specifics. Medium body. Soft tannins and very approachable. Immediately drinkable. Very well balanced. Highly recommend.

This wine is rather charming and red fruited, but unfortunately, due to vintage or some other circumstance, plays down rather than up. After a sniff or two and some air, it tastes more like a Pedesclaux or a Chasse Spleen. A bit pedestrian against the 18 and 19

First of two bottles. Decanted 90 minutes. Deep purple. Intense aromas and flavours of toasty oak, cherries, wax crayon, flowers, cassis. M+ body, high acid, XD, medium-high tannins, medium alcohol (13.5%). Long finish. VG-outstanding quality. Can drink now but may improve with another 5+ years in the cellar. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVO4y3rQFRA for an interview with the Chateau (start at 12:00) and mention of the 2017 vintage in particular.

Shiny and dark ruby. The nose is generous with red fruits, dark fruits, eucalyptus, and black pepper. The palate is fresh with good acidity, slightly grainy tannins. This is a smooth, sensual wine. Fantastic value!
Tasted at the château after a fascinating visit learning about the history of the property and transformations in the vineyard in the past few years.

S & W in NYC (NYC): Understated, dark color, medium body. 13.5% abv, lots of complex flavors, still young but good balance, opened up nicely, drank with steak in restaurant for $120, would drink again.

Gorgeous St. Julien and surprisingly open for being both serious and primary. Aromas of red cherry, plum, blackberry, graham crackers, baking spice, leather, tobacco, white flowers, just a little blackcurrant fruit and leaf. Lively acids, soft but serious tannins, almost velvety and it should get there in a few years, dark and juicy finish, with a little chocolate and cedar coming through. Lovely. Will evolve positively for at least 10 years and motor many more beyond that.

High fruited simple nose; not befitting of the history me thinks. But to be fair palate was a very different story. Balanced. Even settled. Good but leap of faith required. (BKK Tasting 'Right vs Left')

Playful and fiery aromas with a good fruit image of blackberries, cassis, hints of plum peel, anise, coffee and graphite. Medium-bodied and juicy wine that preserves the freshness with ripe blackberries, against ripe raspberries, blackcurrants, espresso, leather and licorice. Juicy and pronounced good finish with seamless tannins and good acidity. Not detailed, but good.

Gloria over performs in 2017 with a big fresh cherry and mineral nose, if without the elegance or drive of the better St Julien estates. This comes across as a little blocky on the palate but the intensely pencilly finish is reasonably long. 91-92 points

Green and disjointed; a one hour decant not withstanding. An infant to revisit visit in five years.

Amsterdam UGCB Tasting and Winemakers' Dinner (Beurs van Berlage / Eden Hotel): Trade tasting, brief note. Good fruit and balance, but the aromas are a bit dull. It’s not closed, and it’s rounded and satisfying, but there is a certain lack of precision and expression.
