Drank almost at room temperature on day 1. Nose of apricots, peach, pinaeaplle - very fragrant. Nice acidity, papaya, apricots, lemon custard with a note of spice in the palate. Young, overall fresh, full bodied, with a long finish. Will improve with age for sure, but already very enjoyable.

Still a little young but blew all four of us away nonetheless-a beautiful Barsac, and can't wait to taste it again in another 2-3 years to see how it evolves. Golden yellow. Powerful even for a Coutet, with prominent notes of peach and apricot followed by some citrus, moderately long finish yet seemed almost weightless. Kept pulling me back for yet another sip. Served it tonight with a dessert of chocolate ganache torte--was a great combination.

Golden yellow hue. Pleasant, sweet and complex nose with notes of saffron, dried apricots and peaches and marzipan. Mouthfeel is sweet, generous, full bodied, well balanced, with nice acidity and notes of saffron, dried apricots and peaches, honey, oranges and lemon curd.
Just gorgeous Barsac here, well balanced, complex and elegant, drinks very well already, but will probably age beautifully for some 20+ years.

Wow! 94-95 pts

First of two bottles. Medium gold. Pronounced aromas of orange, lemon pith, sweet clementine, dust. Pronounced flavours of orange and lemon. Full bodied, medium (perceived) acidity, sweet, medium alcohol (13.5%). Long (-) finish. With Rob, Barb, Maria, Karim. Will save my second bottle until 2042.

Rating for current wine. Mango, pineapple, canned peaches and apricots, honey, orange marmalade, quite sweet indeed. A delicious wine, best left untouched for 10+ more years.

Alex's 40th Birthday (Alex and Fiona's in AMK): A solid Coutet. A touch sweet given its age, but by no means undrinkable. The nose was attractive, if rather in-your-face with sweet aromas of cotton candy, ripe mangoes and dried apricots, with a rather d'Yquem-like whiff of desiccated coconut around the edges of the bouquet. The palate had nice rich sweetness to it as well, with molasses and honey drizzled over dried apricots and peaches, all underlined with a bit of mineral and then lots of fragrant spice as it coated the back-palate in a long finish. A full, complete mouthful. Acid seemed a bit on the lower side, but it was balanced enough to remain very delicious to the last sip.

I really like this one. Seems to have multiple layers of flavor. Hint of petrol, nice acidity, sweetness, and some apple pie . Solid Sauternes, glad I bought multiple bottles.

Orange, sweet mango, pineapple, and cotton candy with a rich, sweet orange juice finish. Tasty, but a little bitter and not enough acidity to balance the sweetness. Good, not great.

Blend of Semillon, Sauv Blanc and Muscadelle. Rich and ripe orange marmalade and apricot aromas and flavors. Hints of white flowers, honey and ginger. Layers of well balanced acidity. Lighter in color than a typical Sauternes but this wine is bold and full bodied. Mouth coating. Lively, deep and fresh.

Luscious, extravagant mouthfeel with aromas of tropical fruits and a hint of vanilla. Palate has waves of flavours, with excellent acidity on the backend to keep the residual sugar in check. Awesome.

The 2017 is a big, richly fruited Coutet, bursting with pineapple and melon. The palate shows a nice balance between rich creaminess and fresh verbena. Big and luscious, but at the cost of some sophistication?

Union des Grand Cru de Bordeaux: Seattle: Honey, tropical fruits, lots of floral notes, but the finish was weak. Was better with bigger sips, but didn't hold up to the others tasted.

This was interesting to compare with 2017 barrel samples from other growers in Sauternes/Barsac and also with 2014 Coutet. Very fresh, lots of acidity and less - at least perceived - concentration and sweetness. Floral notes, ripe yellow stone fruit - very pure and vibrant, but also less intense, complex and long as the 2014 and other 2017s. I’d like to taste this again in a while, this sample felt as if there was something missing. 90-91+?

An all-you-can-eat buffet of tropical fruit with a slather of orange honey, this concentrated, opulent wine has a pastried sweetness but the brisk acidity is equally noticeable, bringing everything into equipoise.
