Yellow-golden; aromatic, quince, wet wool, pear; medium bodied, barely off dry, richly textured, medium-plus vibrant acidity throughout, quince fruit; finish is medium-plus length. Very nicely balanced, overall youthful, drinking well now but will likely continue to evolve for a decade. Perhaps a small step up from my bottle 4 years ago. 91-92

When I opened the bottle it was quite lush and not what I was expecting, the note from Julian Marshall is a spot on it, but after an hour in the decanter it was delicious. On the nose sweet and fresh notes with kumquat, quince and a suggestion of yellow stone fruit, on the palate creamy but dry, very good mouthfeel and long finish.
Very good now if giving it enough air but there is no doubt that it will age nicely for many more years. One of the best Huet I had up to now and still fair priced.

Honeysuckle, pear, quince notes, good attack and big mid and end palate. very long, great food wine. extremely consistent over 3 hours, delicious but likely will develop smoky secondary nuances with time, 93-94 potential. LT recently shared an half bottle of the 2008 ... and it was super.

Pale golden color. Nose of ripe golden apple and pear, honeysuckle, white florals and a slight hint of earthy mushroom or truffle. Similar flavors on the palate with rich, juicy fruit balanced with medium+ to high acidity and a long finish. Drinking great right now but plenty of structure and room to develop.

The last of three and not a wine I shall seek out again. It isn't bad, but it isn't very memorable either. Honey and lemon on the nose, with a little straw and herbs, then a mouthful of the same, with hints of ginger and slightly overdone peach on the finish. Lacking in bite, a bit flabby, a little too sweet for a "sec".
Each to their own - fans of traditional Vouvrays will probably like this more than I did. It ticks all the boxes one would expect from a classic demi-sec. I think I would have liked it a lot more five years ago (so an older vintage). The problem is that having discovered what is going on elsewhere, with fresher, crisper flavours, based more on pear, white peach and even bitter orange than just the good old honeyed lemon, this tastes rather boring.

French and American Wine Tasting Dinner (USA): A quick splash double decant then brought to a tasting dinner. Served blind next to 2017 Lang & Reed Chenin (Napa) to a group of 12. Bright Golden yellow color. Effusively fragrant nose of florals and ripe white peach/nectarine. Very bright acidity and richness on the palate.great fruit notes throughout that mirror the nose. Some minty herbal notes make the finish a little startling and quite long. Long future ahead.
This was definitively the preferred wine by the majority but the group was pretty convinced this was the American wine as the L&R was actually the more mineral dominated profile.

A fabulous wine, this bottle of Le Mont had plenty of lime along with honey and ginger. Certainly linear as a vintage, this seems to have held up better than 14 did at the same stage and I have high hopes for 2019

Light golden straw. Suggestions of lemon chamomile, and a bit of musk. Pleasant, and with nice acid backbone — yet not especially exciting. Enjoyable enough over three nights.

Not all that convincing - honey and lemon on nose and palate, very traditional but lacking in the sparkle one can find elsewhere today, a little flabby and staid.

This wine came across as overly ripe and lacking acid to balance it out. Stone and tropical fruit and slightly flabby. Let's hope these show better as the baby fat is shed.

I like these wines but always want to like them even more. Plenty of sweet honey, stone fruit, lemon and mineral but just too sweet for me to want call on frequently. Texturally more waxy than oily which I like. Tangy and green on the edges so certainly needs a few years to add depth. Moderate acidity and easy going so hard for me to imagine a drinking window of 2028-2060 but would like to try an aged one and see.

Lemon-yellow; moderately aromatic, some quince, some minerality; palate is medium-full bodied, richly textured, with fresh acidity that gives the wine lift, medium alcohol (13%), essentially dry for chenin blanc; medium length finish. A lovely Vouvray, very young, not quite showing the level of complexity I expect from Huet right now. Should age nicely over the next decade. 90 2 hours air: lovely tangy acidity on the palate, refreshing. A lovely wine, but still a bit limited in its complexity right now. 90-91 Day 2: At least as good, if not slightly better. No oxidation at all, but a bit more depth on the nose and palate. 91

Oily and lots of honey and beeswax. Thick and mouth coating, perhaps because the residual sugar and slight heat are a bit much (at least at the moment). I usually prefer CDB to le mont but only slightly. Will have to wait for the CDB. I would hold this too for a few more years, it hit me a bit simple today.

Straw coloured, some classic chenin style bruised apple with the dry minerality, not unpleasantly oily texture and crisp acid backbone of the north-of-the-Loire Touraine that was a great match with an Indian curry. Great to drink now.

Krotida Wine Gang Tasting, Domaine Huet horizontal 2017 (Oinoscent): 50% demi muids 50% en cuves, soil: stony, green clay, flint stones, age of vines 25yo, alc 13%, acidity 5g/lt, RS 6 g/lt, pH:3.15, production 15.000 The wine shows clean and bright nose, ripe citrus, pear, apple, earthy, medium intensity, preserved lemon, fresh herb spiciness. In the palate, the wine is very delicate, it shows freshness, mineral, strong oak influence, high acidity, ripe lemon, a hint of alcohol heat (13%), well rounderd with 6 gr/lt, needs food to take the heat, beautiful structure, medium to high intensity, medium to long finish. Outstanding quality. The wine just grows in the glass, just wait a bit for the floral notes.

Le Mont is easily my favorite Chenin vineyard anywhere and 2017 I thought was particularly awesome so I bought it twice. It’s so expressive and so honest, unshowy. On second visit this wine is again a medley of zippy baked citrus, mango, ginger, passion fruit, and baking spice. Underneath it’s rich, but acidic enough to float.

Aromas of Fuji Apple, mineral, passion fruit and grape. Flavors of apple, grape, mineral and star fruit. Ends with a 20-25 secondwith star fruit notes. Not quite as sweet as I remember but a nice wine.

Popped and poured but then drank over a couple hours. This wine is particularly stingy at this point. Not giving up much at all aromatically unfortunately. A little closed on the palate as well, but after some time and aggressive swirling a few components poked their head out. Citrus and a little fruit. Needs a couple years to hopefully develop. Score now...89pts.

Beautiful floral nose. Packs a wallop on the tongue. Pear. Green apple. Citrus. Honey. Wet clam shell. Hints of pineapple. Mango and buttered toast. Slight oak. Prefer the dryer sec to the demi sec, a great Chenin Blanc. Not as acidic as I would have thought.

Chenin Blanc (as done by the French at least) is one of those grapes that I find really doesn't appeal to my palate (Riesling is another). I get the complexities of flavour as mentioned in other notes, and the minerality. But the mix of acidity and sweetness just doesn't sit well with me. I understand that it does with others so I won't attempt to rate this wine.

Agree with the previous TN that the very pale straw color and mild nose don't really indicate the snap this carries on the palate. Quite dry and taut, this delivers a solid, workman like Le Mont that should drink well for a decade plus, if not longer.

Young, of course. Almost clear in color. Little nose at this point. But more flavorful than you’d expect based on color and nose. Has a depth of mouthfeel and flavor in mid-palate that impresses and the bite and long, flavorful finish to improve for several years. I suspect this number will go up over time.
