Wines Tasted at the La Paulée Verticals Session (The Maybourne, Beverly Hills): Paler ruby, cooler green nose with much less upfront fruit-earth and wintergreen > background strawberry. More typical light Gevrey body. So different than the 2 younger Cherbaudes with a more subtle, understated, elegant style. Still wonderful fruit/soil balance, supple, fine red fruit, excellent acidity, and a dryingly tannic, soil filled finish. Excellent but in need of 5-7 years of bottle aging at this point. Of all of the Fourrier Premier Crus, I knew least about the Cherbaudes but really enjoyed the trio. They differentiated themselves very well according to the nature of the vintages.

The Grand Finale: The Last Plum Tasting & Wine Sale (Chicago, IL): "It's fine." You'd hope for more from a wine that costs this much. Ripe, but red fruit, as is quite typical for Fourrier. Some elegance on the palate, with a silky texture, but at the same time, this feels more dilute than it ought to be. Lacking in tannin as well, I'm not too convinced at the aging potential here either.

Mini Fourrier 2017 Tasting Exercise: Shy nose. This one looks opening up after the decanting but still quite linear and flat. Some hint of fruit and complexity but overwhelmed by the watery feel with some alcohol. Medium finishing. Didn’t improve later the night

Tasted after 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin. A bit denser and more concentrated, but also more depth. Nice grip and acidity, very vibrant and long. Great balance. 92-93+

Some Wine Tasted at the Acker La Paulée Auction (Maybourne Hotel - Beverly Hills CA): Tasted at auction. Ripe black fruit with wonderful balance, good enough weight. Identical to the bottle tasted the other day.

Incredible wine. Great nose. Classic burgundy GC. Great color. Noise floral notes earthy forest floor. Can age a few more years.

La Paulée de New York Grand Tasting (Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers - New York NY): Walk around tasting. Sweet black and red cherry showing earth notes, all with good weight and forward fleshy textures. Sneaky good length, also more likely to enjoy young vs other recent vintages.

La Paulée 2020 Grand Tasting of 2017 Burgundy (Pier 60, New York): Higher toned candied strawberry fruit than the AC wine and loads of soil which are not found in that wine.

Domaine Fourrier Cellar Visit and Tasting (Gevrey-Chambertin): Tasting at the domaine. Bright black and red cherry with good weight, sneaky power, and slightly firm for now on its finish. Best to cellar a few years, and enjoy 2022 forward.
