This is very Burgundian in character. I would say a lot more similar to a Beaune rouge than a Beaujolais is. Very earthy, sappy and red fruited with some smokiness probably from barrel aging. Very enjoyable. It certainly overdelivers.

Gamay is an interesting red grape for the Finger Lakes. This wine is elegant and earthy, not unlike a lighter Pinot Noir, but with a more mineral and tannic core, riper fruit that expected from the nose.
