A good showing for this bottle. Very typical NSG aromatics: iron, earth, dark fruit. On the palate, this was quite powerful. Solid feeling fruit and flesh, lively but without any noticeable acidic snap, and then some firm, burly tannins gripped the back end. Drinking well now if paired with the right food, but this is certainly still quite youthful.

Terrific showing tonight. Rustic with spicy cherries, earth notes, and plenty of grip. Has put on weight in the past 6 months, and a good match to roast chicken and sauteed mushrooms.

Vertical Tasting of Chevillon Nuits Vieilles Vignes (Vin Vino, Palo Alto): Medium red with some browning. Here, menthol leads the aromatic parade, and the fruit is in the background. These are joined by brown spice and iron. Like many things in life, the '01 starts out much better than it finishes. A promising entry is medium weight and round, but the fruit is short and the finish unpleasantly tart. I don't care for the balance or how the components are woven together in this one.

Impressive village wine, drinking nicely. Muted nose, with an hour of airing, initial bright racy cherry tones darkened, gaining some depth and finish. Quite elegant.

Light in color. Soft at the beginning of the taste with subdued fruit and nice finish with slight tartness and toast. Very pleasant and ready to drink. A nice village wine.

Somewhat reticent nose that shows more earth, smokey, herb notes than fruit. The palate is where the fruit shows it's character. Red fruits with cherry very prominent and combining with the smokey note. Seems a bit hollow in the midpalate with a short finish. I have another one to try in a year or two.

what a wonderful burg. I could smell the red fruits from 4 feet away! supple, sweet red cherries and a touch of earth. round and clean and a delicious, long fruit filled finish. still young.

No notes taken, but this didn't show the brett the previous bottle did. Rock solid and in no danger of decline.

Pretty nose with berries and hints of florals. Fresh acidity with red berries and citrus, soft tannins and an earthy finish.

No notes taken. Hard to enjoy this as it had a healthy dose of brett.

Violets and iron on the nose. Palate is silken. Moderate finish with a hint of tannins still. Delicious.
