A viognier is always our first port of call for thai food. In this case we paired the thai section of our Hot pot with a good result. Nice exotic fruit, pineapple, mango, but also peach, honey, asparagus and ginger, with a generous mineral backbone. Can be enjoyed now and for another 2 years.

BTG in a tasting flight and served perfectly chilled, makes me remember how much I loved Condrieu the first time I tasted. Creamy oily texture, pineapple and oranges. Yet still light and elegant. I couldn’t drink multiple glasses of it but just perfect as an apertif

Orange blossom, peaches and a great slightly oily texture. The acidity keeps it all in balance and the oak is well integrated. Cracking wine. Quality :3/4 Price :1/3 X-factor/ interest :3/3 Total: 7/10

Second note for this in recent months and consistent with the first; Super expressive nose of honeysuckle, violet, creamy ripe peach, apricot, orange blossom and a touch of grapefruit freshness. The palate has a really special slightly oily texture, beautiful ripe, stone fruit definition and excellent acidity through the classy, mouthwatering finish. The oak adds presence but is very well integrated. While this isn't a profound Condrieu, Guigal have done very well in a hot year and this is a joy to drink. In its prime now.

A superb Condrieu in its prime. A stunning nose of apricot, white peach, violet, orange blossom, mango and roasted pear. The palate has that beautiful, intense, oily texture you long for with a Condrieu followed brilliant depth, richness and balance. The acidity is beautiful and precise and just lifts through the long finish. Knockout.

2020 Guigal single vineyard cote rotie release dinner (Bel & Brio, Barangaroo): Pretty nose with aromas of apricot, a little sweet spice, a little cedar. Softly juicy, fleshy, glycerol textured, alcohol is more controlled here than with the St Joseph in this bracket. Apricot fruit. Again there is a touch of bitterness but, like the alcohol, well managed. This gets increasingly fleshy with time. Nice.

Courtesy of R&D. Pale color. Aromas of peach and flowers turning slitly tropical as it warms in the glass. Full-bodied with that terrific oily viognier texture. Stone and tropical fruit flavors and a bit of spice on the palate. Excellent.

Deep gold color with strong intensity of aromas. Stone and tropical fruits on the nose with white and yellow flowers. Nuttiness and very creamy texture that coated my palate—i think the malo sticks out a bit at this point. This is a food wine for sure.

Tasted blind. Med yellow. Med (+) intensity, with aromas of ripe lemon, orange blossom, white peach, orange zest, wet stone. The nose is developing, and there's some evidence of new oak. Dry, consistent with the nose, with med acidity, med (+) to high alcohol. Rich, rounded, full-bodied, with med (+) to pronounced flavor intensity and length. Can drink now but has potential for further aging.

This is very dense, intensive, fruity and low-acidic, as Condrieu should be. However, I had expected that the tropical fruit flavors would be even more seductive, as they have been with some earlier vintages of this wine. I would advice to drink this well-enough chilled, and also preferably with food.

Nose of spice, herb and citrus. Body seems to overwhelm the fruit at first, strongly mineral. Very good--but it is a big step up to the La Doriane.
