Classic, very appealing nose with medium + intensity notes of fresh strawberryjam, rhubarb, some baking spice, mushrooms and autumn leaves. Silky mouthfeel, med body and med+ acid, more savoury than on the nose, carrying the fruit well into a long balanced finish.

Tasted over 2 hrs -nearly semi-translucent med dark red purple -some reduction funk partly blows off leaving a relatively fresh tilled soil floral cassis -med acidity, med weight nicely concentrated vibrant lively earthy dark fruit saline, med/med- tannins -very lovely ready to drink if early on its maturity curve, not super complex but a perfectly wonderful village Gevrey, first time tasting this producer is a win

Opened and decanted an hour ahead of roasted salmon, beans, and mixed veggies. Ruby-crimson color. The nose brings fresh potpourri, forest floor funk, cloves, and baked rhubarb pie. The palate is medium, round, and textured, bringing more rhubarb with candied blueberries, sour cherries, orange peel, and Manhattan bitters mixed with baking spices. The extended finish brings wood smoke and is still evening out, so this will be best 2024-2032. Technical score: 92. Enjoyment score: 92.

Popped and poured. Very elegant and airy. Red cherry, herbs and minerals. Simple, medium bodied, restrained. Won’t be a long ager but for everyday drinking this is a good choice

Am no Gevrey expert, but both bottles of this I’ve tried have run contrary to my expectations: behind the floral notes there is an undercurrent of something bitter…more than just oak. With first bottle I thought maybe so2, but now thinking perhaps it’s a feature not a bug. Stems? Rocks? Not bad, but not an easygoing wine.

Tasted in parallel with Morey St.-Denis from same vintage. I was surprised to find this the more delicate one. More spice on the nose and lighter on the palate. Traces of anise and mint with a saline finish. Slight presence of oak; not intrusive, but personal preference: I wish it were absent completely.

Introducing some friends to wines: Clearly from a more classic vintage, elegant and light but without being dilute. Was also rather silky for a Gevrey rather than being savoury and meaty. Some sour cherries began to show with air. Unlike more vaunted bottles last week, this definitely punched above its weight and was my favourite on the night. Drinking well now.

This pours very light ruby in the glass, vibrant and totally transparent to the core. The nose is very lifted and complex showing bright red cherry, pomegranate, grapefruit, white mushroom, forest floor, red jujube, perfume, fresh rose petal, fresh turned soil, and sweet cedar. The nose is totally intoxicating. The palate is pure silk, with low tannin and bright medium plus red fruited and citrus tinged acid. The finish is medium in length replaying grapefruit and the red fruit. Lovely!

2017 Domaine Taupenot-Merme Gevrey-Chambertin was savoury, earthy and gently spiced. The developing Gevrey was clear and medium ruby in colour without any sediments. Freshly uncorked, there were interesting liqourice and gamey notes, accompanied by dark cherry and violet aromas. With two hours of in-bottle aeration, it gained complexities of earth and wet stone minerals.
The mouthfeel was dry and medium-bodied, with medium-high level of fresh acidity and medium level of finely grained tannin. Flavours of bramble, smoke and subtle forest floor persisted in a long savoury finish. The alcohol level was at 13%.

Typical GC with good salinity over red berries. Medium-bodied and fresh wine with good red berry fruit. Good minerality and spices help to make the wine interesting. Tighter middle part. Balanced tannins. Needs time, but will develop further. 90 points.

Red and dark fruit on the nose, crushed stones, herbs, spices. On the palate quite serious and well balanced. A little less expressive compared to the 2017 Chambolle-Musigny villages tasted before. Nice depth and length. Very good. 90-91+

Très très beau. Excellent RQP considérant que c'était un "bin end sale" de la LCBO!

Nice earthy gevrey nose and lots of youthful red fruit but a bit simple in the mid palate and lacking length. A fine wine but not a re-buy.
