I suppose it is accurate that this is not jammy, but I still find it totally over the top. To say that these lack nuance is putting it lightly. Brave new world, you're not for me.

Nose showing slight oxidation and dark rose. Flavors are splendid with a barolo like black tea like flavor, berries, with out the sugar, violets and more dark flowers. Nice long finish. fading on second and third days opened.

P & P'ed. Pretty darn nice wine. Not jammy at all like so many California Zins can be. Has an old world feel to it with a hint of the Cali sun. Blackberries, fresh cut celery, underbrush on nose. Velvety smooth on palate with a little bit of a bitter finish which is nice with this wine. Has evolved quite a bit from last bottle tried 2 years ago. Paired well with spicy Boudin and grilled onions. One of the better zins I have consumed.

Poured off one glass then put ing cellar. Wonderful blackberries with a hint of spice that I could not get my head around. The wine was medium bodied with a smooth not silky finish that lasted 30 seconds. Paired well with garlic and balsamic grilled skirt steak.

Good but not great Carlisle SVD Zin. Red fruited, cherry palate with some earth and a spicy finish. Liked it but didn't have that something extra that most Carlisle's do.

Dark ruby red. The nose has raspberry, a little plum, some toast. Plush on the palate, with fruit more on the dark side, but very clean. Nicely balance, maybe a little on the soft side. The delicious fruit and luscious mouthfeel are just beautiful. Long, enjoyable finish.

15.9% ABV. Dark garnet somewhat translucent. Spicy cloves and tangy-crunchy raspberry and cherry fruit on the nose. Rich tangy red fruit consisting mostly of raspberries with high toned cinnamon and clove spice coming in late. With I noted a little red pepper. Excellent.

A pleasing high powered zin after a small period of time. It was upfront with the initial fruit but I might have liked it to last a little longer. Still it went well with the steak and blue cheese.

Surprised by the recent ratings on this wine. I am huge Carlisle fan, but this wine just does not have the depth and flavor profile I have come to appreciate in other efforts from this winery. Simple straightforward zin with heavy red fruits on the front end, but not much fruit or distinctiveness on the backend. Seems to have run its course. MattCooper's review from almost 2 years is dead on where this wine is now. Opened up for over two hours with no decanting and did not improve much.

Quite fine after a 15 minute funk blow-off. The 15.9% alc wasn't an issue. So good I'm thinking of making Gold Mine my exclusive mail list purchase...dozens of cases, of course...but then again...I might wake up with a different view on Carlisle Zins...greedy bastard that I am.

A very nice zin that seems to be entering it's prime. Joan and I really enjoyed this wine. The carignan adds a lot to this zin and it should age for at least another few years. Drink my last bottle of the coming year.

This zin is marked by a higher toned, more nervey nose of purple flowers, red and blue fruits, green peppercorn, bramble, and spices. No blackberry or cassis here. Palate has a nice high acid level that hits right at the start and carries through to an extended, pretty finish . No sense of heat, and comes off as medium bodied due to its refreshing acidity. Despite its higher toned nature, there is a real purity and depth of fruit. Very impressive.

Another De-Delicious bottle of Carlisle Zin. This baby is giving more than i expected. Popped and poured. Beautiful dark ruby color. A bit of earth licorice and raspberry on the nose. The palate is alive with zinberry, raspberry, smoke and spice. A touch of pepper. Flavors beautifully integrated with nice complexity, Balanced. Good acidity. There is no reason to wait any longer on this wine as it is an absolute delight right now.

Popped and poured in the decanter. After 3+ hours this wine still seems very tight. Very spicy, with earth and underbrush that overwhelm the fruit. Would not guess this to be a zin. Maybe better on day 2. Will wait to open next one for at least another year.

Thought this was a very nice wine. Leans more towards some blacker fruits than I usually get with Carlisle's but still very fresh and bright. Some moderate tannin, but a pure pleasure to drink.

The GM is opaque purple in color, a bit smokey, and somewhat elevated in alcohol. The fruit is mostly blue berries, there's bright acidity, and sweet ripe soft tannins. I'd say a very good wine.

Color is dark burgundy-almost purple, but not opaque. Smell is berries and bramble, with slight vanilla and spice. Taste is black fruits and deep cherry. Then turns to chocolate and then pepper. Finish is very dry and long. Stains the mouth. Nice acidity to keep it bright. Alcohol is present, but not overtly noticeable. Went well with pizza. Very young.

Deep ruby color. Intense, perfumy floral nose with elements of charcoal smoke and black cherries. On the palate, ripe tannins, silky, with bright raspberry notes and good balance.

Big fan of Carlisle, but not particularly a big fan of this Zin. Dusty plums on the nose, with sweet cherries and raspberries on the palate. The wine is simple and straight forward, while being a bit on the sweet side. Easy to drink, but in no danger of being an outstanding wine.

Hard to tell this one apart from most other Carlisle Zins, but it is very good (just like all other Carlisle Zins!). One distinguishing feature is the slight hint of funk on the nose (animal fur?) and volatile acidity. Otherwise, it carries the familiar black raspberry, clove, cherry, and cool-climate/ foggy ambience. Would be good with barbecued food, tomato sauces, and beef.
