Coravin by the glass. Aromas of blackberry, huckleberry, gamey meat, bramble and spice. Black and blue fruit, gamey meat, spice and fine tannins on the palate. Velvety texture with a long finish. Full bodied. Served with grilled cheeseburgers.

Well made syrah, but a touch “big” clocking in at 15%. Different aromatics vs say, your typical northern rhone, but it is a great wine in its own right, just different.

Popped and poured. Very attractive nose of blackberry, herbs, minerals and spice. The wine is pretty fully on but reasonably fresh. Relatively simple and a little short on the finish this may need more time.

A very interesting wine. I find that my impression of this wine differs from most of the other CellarTracker commenters. I detected very little fruit on my tongue. I did get some salinity, which I often see in California Syrah. It does have a velvety, thick, mouthfeel, which I enjoyed quite a bit, I found it to be medium-bodied with a fairly short finish--both of which disagree with some other commenters.

A nose of dark fruit and spice, purple in color. A medium to full bodied red, with blueberry, dark cherry, and smoky peppery flavors on long finish. Always good every year, a great QPR. www.winelx.com

PNP, ready after an hour of air. Nose of violet and tapenade. blackberry, blueberry, black olive some white pepper hint of dark chocolate. Mostly about the exuberant fruit, full bodied but balanced with medium tannins and acidity. 20% stem inclusion, 24% new oak. 15% ABV.

No time at the moment for a longer review - just a quick post to say WOW, THIS WINE IS AMAZING! Ready now - deep and complex flavor profile of black and blue fruits and smoke and pepper. Long (long!) finish, too. Enjoy!

I popped a cork on the beauty to celebrate TWOs-day (Tuesday 2/22/22). The wine was decanted for 60 min prior to the first pour and then left it in the decanter for the remaining 5 hours the bottle was consumed. The wine was consumed out of Grassl Liberte stemware.
This wine was fabulous. The color is very dark purple. It had aromas of lavender, blue and black fruits and baking spices. The palate was of acai berries, spice, some minerality and a hint of cured meat. The tannins and acid were both medium. The body is medium to full. There were no hard edges. It was well balanced and in perfect harmony!
My score is 94+. This exceeded my expectations. Bravo Mr. Officer!

This wine needs MUCH more time to develop. It is delicious now but we rushed it by drinking this wine now. If you do drink it, decant it hours before drinking. That will help. Absolutely lovely blackberry, spices, and mint. After a few days of being open (and sealed) in the cellar, it was out of balance and oaky. So if you drink it before 2024, be sure to decant and enjoy in a day or two.

Open for 2 full days now. Drinking at outside temp, about 72f. This is dark, with the oak (cinnamon and nutmeg spices) adding fragrance to the aromatics. The dark fruit is pretty intense here, with a brushing of olive and rosemary (presume from whole cluster?), alongside what is mainly blue fruit with a dash of black fruit mixing with it. The weight here is managed pretty well, and given the color I was thinking the wine might be pretty large in frame but it doesn't show that way. The wine finishes with some light tannin and an inky, charcoal note. The wine to me still feels young but in terms of balance and weight, I don't have any concern in drinking this now. It will come down to whether you want to have more aged character with time or instead enjoy some of the forward presence of the wine that it shows at this stage. I prefer the latter, as the youthfulness of the wine now really brings pleasure.

Dark Ruby, clear and transparent. Cherries, some alkohol on the nose. Balanced with piercing freshness. It is more a Carlisle than a Cali Syrah. Lovely.

Young, but very drinkable now after a 45-minute decant. Huge fruit. Lots of violet, smoked meat, perfume plus some tar. Great mouthfeel; tannins there, but in check. Long finish. Expect it will be killer in 2-3 years. 94-96 points.

I’m tempted to score this wine higher. The aromatics are fantastic with blue fruits, violet, and cinnamon stick.
Deep purple but not quite as inky black as I remember the 15 being. But this is a better Papa’s to be sure. A complete wine, with an outstandingly fresh bouquet, plush, medium to full bodied texture, good weight of fruit, balanced acidity and fine grained tannins. My tolerance for tannin is fairly high, so I say that this wine is ready to go. And if you are lucky enough to have a few, I would pop one in the next year just to capture that freshness. No decant and it really doesn’t need it IMO
Blueberry, black raspberry, Szechuan sauce, raw steak and hot stone. A luxurious and full body, with polished tannins and a long, focused finish that exemplifies berries. This reminds me of the ‘10 meets the ‘12. Decanted for an hour. Drink 2020 - 2030.
