Glass: Zalto Universal Perfect bottle, fill level, color and cork. Popped and poured, drunk over two days. Clear, deep golden color. Clean, medium+ intense, fully developed nose. Smoke, malt, sea breeze, algae, some vegetables. Freaky, deep and complex. Dry, high, animating and perfectly integrated acidity. On the palate a wonderful salty mineral core, smoke, some lime, some vegetables. All components beautiful balanced. Very dense and deep, with a lovely texture and firm grip. Long, deep, salty finish. What a wonderful and unique experience! This bottle would have had potential to stay ~5 years on this level, but won’t improve. 94-95

Charity Auction Dinner with Ancient French Rarities--1924 to 1979 (RN 74, San Francisco): Just a little something extra provided by our host to slake our thirst before dessert. Medium yellow. Little fusel but beautiful ripe peach on the nose. Big, broad and youthful. Perhaps a touch of residual sugar versus the deception of a glycerine feel. Having had the '79 Frederic Emile before, I was surprised at how much much riper, more alive with fruit and less acidic this was. Long, persistent finish. This drinks 15 years younger than it actually is and probably anticipates the development of vintages such as 1995 and 2000, which are richer and slightly less mineral expressions of Clos Ste. Hune. Fantastic shape for 33 year old Riesling.

Dinner at Søllerød Kro (Søllerød Kro): Nice yellow that doesn't reveal too much age. Delicious nose of motor oil, smoked fruit and intense minerality. In the mouth this is fat yet well-defined with good underlying acidity and the same delicious notes as the nose (the motor oil gradually blows off).

Initially rather off and disjointed - some cider and petrol. Better and better with time. Wonderfully complex and pure, particularly on the nose. Hardcore mineral and citrus, but first and foremost patrician and restrained. A slightly chalky feel to the palate. Superior to a wonderful 1973 Hune a year or so back. As another taster mentioned, typical CSH in that it's more intellectual than hedonistic. Just delicious.

Incredible dinner at Momofuku Ssäm (New York, NY): Lovely petrol notes interplay against some faintly green, husk notes. Eventually these green notes turn to a hint of mint. Lovely, salty, mineral laden wine that gains lots of body in the glass. Surprising weight to this wine. Very fresh and alive. An impressive, intellectual wine.

13th Anniversary dinner (Home): Golden yellow .. very deep color but brilliant. Showing age and the musty aromas that come with age. Peach pits and/or skins, hayfields/meadows, paper whites. Very concentrated, mouth filling with nice viscosity offset by powerful acidity. Extremely long, focused finish. This is linear and deep. Fine, fine wine.

World Wine Symposium 2013 - Kevin and Kelly's excellent adventure; 11/6/2013-11/14/2013 (Villa D’este, Lake Como): Lemon oil, burnt sugar, smoke, honey and a hint of petrol. It reminds me a good auslese. Not as linear and precise as I hoped but still quite nice.
