Drunk with roast butternut squash soup with parsley pesto. Yellow gold. A buttery nose that developed into almonds, cream, ripe melon and vanilla. Quite rich, full and well balanced with very good length. Going strong with no sign of fading. It is drinking well and is very enjoyable but would need more complexity to score higher. This may yet get better over the next 10 years - still seems quite young.

Medium lemon - fully developed. Very tight and lean upon opening. Needed decanting for an hour, plus closer to room temperature to open up and fill out. Broad but crisp, still with freshness even if fully mature, without the concentration or structure to support positive future development. Not especially textured on the midpalate, nor showing great sense of place or present. Focus to the finish if angular, not energetic. Citrus, honey, yeast, toast ... nothing particularly distinctive.

Pours a clear pale yellow color. Aromas of toasted corn, light oak, gravel, mineral. Wine is still tight, with flavors of oak, white fruit, toasted coconut, and jasmine. Unique wine.

Pale lemon yellow colour fading into watery rims Developing nose with a med+ intensity of white flowers (acacia), stone fruit, vanilla/toasty notes. Dry, mouth-watering acidity, med bodied, med alcohol, but very good intensity of flavours of ripe lemon and apples, melon and a vibrant minerality really. Med+ length Very good wine with a good concentration of flavours, perfectly balanced (wood tannins integrated), backbone of minerality. Very fresh!

2005 Clos Blanc de Vougeot Almost meaty and muscular. Up front it is tight and backward, though obviously rich. On the palate it is very powerful, even tannic. The flavours should start to soar in another two to three years but for the moment it is the power more than the charm on display. Jul2010 BBR

Chicago Berserkerfest Dinner #3 (Chez Whitehead - Northbrook IL): Very fat stone fruit aromas, very 2005 in character. Good fruit flavors to start, slightly soft in middle and finish.

Golden straw color; buttery vanilla; very elegant. Enjoyed with FACE at Rouge Tomate.

Berry Bros & Rudd - Perfect Partnerships - Fine Wine & Seafood (Berry Bros, London): Nose: Oak, malo, pineapple, honey, jasmin, honeysuckle
Mouth: Rich malo, lots of oak, lots of fruit - old world does new world perhaps. Unfortunately not at new world prices - consequently loses marks for the price (about £50)
