Not sure if this needs more time or is just an average vintage but it’s been breathing for over an hour and misses on balance and structure. Has the characteristics of a BDM but fails to put them all together. Will keep last two bottles for 2-3 more years to see if this develops but not sure if it ever comes together like you’d expect from this label.

Wine was very structured with nice acidity. Had with a 16 but found the 16 more preferable. Wine had a brownish tinge. Tannins seem to be subsided and fruit seems to be light. Feel this wine is drinking well now

Medium garnet in color. Aromas of tomato leaves, oregano, cherries, and balsamic waft from the glass. Palate is filled with bright, slightly underripe red fruit, mocha, and hazelnut. Lively acidity. Medium tannins.

Attractive brunello in a lighter vintage. Plenty of sour cherries and good earthy notes. Good acidity but perhaps lacking some backbone compared to other vintages. Typical and very foodfriendly.

Pleasant nose, fruit forward Brunello with hints of raspberry. It’s not going to wow your socks off, but has decent structure and is enjoyable to drink.

This improves with air. For a 2014, this a very good, very balanced, very local, sound fruit, som herbes, a dry presence, very typical for the genre. Years left here, I think, tasted over four days, no signs of fatigue.

Tasted blind. Med ruby with a garnet rim. Med intensity aromas of red cherry, black plum, herbs with subtle oak spice. The nose is developing. Dry, with high acidity, med (+) alcohol and med (+) tannins. The body, flavor intensity and length are all med to med (+). This wine is drinking well now and is not likely to improve much with further ageing. I thought it was a Chianti Classico, which is perhaps indicative of 2014 being a fairly lean vintage for Montalcino. Therefore, not the best QPR.

Had at Earls in Calgary. This was a good bottle of wine, although I didn’t enjoy it as much as I have in the past with the 13 and 12. I found this to be slightly less complex with a shorter finish than expected. Maybe this needs a little more time to develop? Will try again.

Not a bruiser, but not subtle either. There's something a bit rustic around the edges, almost like a really polished Chianti Ruffino. Dense cherry fruit with some plumminess, rust, roast meat, and dried flowers. Rich on the front palate with something lean in the mid-palate. Nicely textured, but again shows something a tad rough around the edges. Did the job with short ribs though.

Monthly Tasting at Wine Wizards: Being pushed at the retail level, marked down to nearly half price. Fairly developed Brunello, good but not special. Minty and powdery tannins, decent balance in general not bad for $35 but as developed as it will get, for tonight or this month not the cellar. Needs a rich and meaty tomato based dish.

By the glass. Aromas of wet earth, dark wood and once again blackberries. On the palate same well known old chaps: velvet soft tannins and an unbalanced cover. Predictable and little boring. Sincerely can't understand its price range.
Por copas. Aromas a tierra mojada, maderas oscuras y nuevamente moras. En el paladar, los mismos sabrosos y antiguos conocidos: taninos suaves de terciopelo y una cubierta desequilibrada. Predecible y un poco aburrido. Sinceramente no puedo entender su rango en precio.

Tasted at Benvenuto Brunello in NYC. Quite thin, flat and unimpressive. In a difficult year they were not able to do much with this wine in my opinion. I thought their 2016 Rosso was better.

Not the best vintage, but it’s drinking well now, and it is a good example of a well-made Brunello. Drink now to 2024.

Very tasty but needs a decant right now. Sangiovese flavors with a savory finish plenty of fruit and great with grilled meat.

Very nice nose with passion fruit and viol. Elegant and with long aftertaste. Will develop further over the next 5-10 years. Excellent!
