I cannot recall buying this wine but found it in the cellar realised it’s probably well past its prime. Upon opening, it smelt like it was corked. We poured the wine and the colour looked good with very slight bricking. However when we tasted it we could tell it was not corked but it was not great. Slightly cloying sweetness overpowers.

RUSSK Solid and easy drinking. 13%alc. Chalky rustic nose, but not pronuounced. Dark cherry in appearance, but med-bodied in palate. A good everyday wine. Buy more at $12.

Still young, full of cherries, strawberries in the attack, solid oak in the mid palate and a bit heavy with the tannins towards the finish. A great wine with food.

Nice aromas of tobacco and red fruits. Nice solid structure, with chewy tannins at the end and not a hint of alcohol. The wine really benefited from a veal parm - the strong acidity was dulled down and the flavors were a lot more expressive. Has nice juicy fruit flavors that remind me of a california zin, but it also has a rustic vibe that I like a lot and keeps it from being a fruit bomb.

This wine as a strong nose of dark cheery and black currents. Unlike some of the other reviews, I did not find this wine to be very dry; it was fairly fruit-forward and rich. I did not sense the acid at the end as some did, although it did finish with an edge and a little tart. This is a food wine, preferably a meaty tomato sauce with pasta.

I think the 2004 isn't quite as strong as the 2003, but it's still a solid red wine. Great for pizza, or when entertaining folks who won't really appreciate a great bottle of wine. I do disagree with another review. I despise plummy wines and I don't find this one to be especially plummy.

Appearance: raspberry jello before it hardens; aroma: small amount of oak (but not much, and not much else -- a shortcoming); taste: red berries initially and mid-palate, with a pleasant but slight finish of low-intensity, balanced tannins; overall: pleasant medium-weight weekday wine, not a bad wine for the money at $13 (sale price at Calvert Woodley)

Young and fragrant but showing deceptively deep aromas of blackberry, creme de cassis, rose petals or violets, all rounded out with notes of wet soil or clay. Vibrant and juicy on the palate with blueberry jam flavors shaded with vanilla. A modern style, but one that's hard not to enjoy. Fine tannin on the finish.

Very bright & fruity open, but wow did the acid kick in after swallowing. Could feel the burn as it went down, which killed a lot of the good stuff going on in the wine. Eased up as I drank with my meal on the first night, 2nd & 3rd was more tolerable... even became an very enjoyable wine.

Better this time. Great berries - nice fruit forward wine. Paired better this time with a soupe de poisson. Very enjoyable.

Wonderful red sauce/pizza wine. Good dark fruits with some creamy oak and decent structure for the price. Good QPR.

Deep, dense dark purple, short nose, fruit forward, acid, heat and mild tannins.
Improved deep into the meal of lamb chops and baked potato.
