  • Four hour decant. Deep dark ruby magenta color. Steak, dark chocolate, and plum on the uniquely meaty nose. Smooth, dry, full bodied palate, with grainy acidity. Firm, modestly spicy tannins on the longish finish.

Once I got used to the Syrah-like personality of this Cab, I really enjoyed it. Very unusual, but clearly well made and well integrated. I wouldn’t necessarily want this every day. For some reason these Younntville Cabs always have a savory undertone.

  • Color: deep purple - opaque
Nose: plum, cigar box, anise, pepper
Taste: plum, cherry, anise and smoke
This wine is bursting with fruit upfront with a nice mid palate is anise, cigar box and vanilla. A lingering finish with well integrated tannins. Drinking well right now

  • This bottles cork was better than the last one. Cork came out clean with no stain. Color, aroma and taste was very similar to the last Bottle. Keep this at 90 Points. Remains a Fair QPR and there’s still no need to get anymore.

  • Not bad, and far, far better than the two 2014 bottles I had just a couple weeks ago (but to be fair, one of those bottles was horribly corked). This ‘16 had stain on top of the cork, but just a very thin, singular, line up the side of the cork when I removed it. Not wet at the top either.

Decanted for 2 hours. A very dark, but clear, purple-black color. Aroma was deep and rich, with oak and black fruit. The taste followed the aroma with black fruit and oak with some cassis, plum and a decent size dose of vanilla. Tannins were a bit rough and decent acidity, balance was ok.

Overall, a nice 90-91 Pointer. Due to the price point, I have to lean towards the 90 score. A Fair QPR. Get more? Have to think about it a bit, undecided.
