This was pretty reassuring for me. With our local retailer direct importing several Camus wines between ‘99 vintage and ‘03, I tried to sort through them and buy what I found to be the best of them as they can be tremendous values if you sort through them prudently. Shared this one with Xavier94 and I concur with his great note.

(out of 750ml) Wow, this very complete with an array of classic Burgundy notes taking form; anise-infused red cherry and raspberry coulis/sauce with pine-laden forest floor scents, rose garden and cinnamon spice. Rich and spicy with integrated tannin, revealing a spicy beef broth/umami textural component that really takes this to Grand Cru level performance. Terrific layering/complexity on this bottle and while still developing, of course, this is compelling stuff!

(tasted from Magnum/1.5L) This is a riper, more primary fruit nose compared to the '03 Latricieres from Camus and while the fruit is more lush, forward and smoother in the mouth, the aromatics are tighter and less interesting than the Latricieres (for me). Lots of cooked cherries and currants celery salt/root vegetable nuances and truffle come forth with the leading fruit. This particular bottle should age quite a bit yet as there is plenty of midpalate sap that I don't always find with these wines. I wish the aromas were more developed/layered. Good showing.

This is a firm favourite of mine, and one of the best QPRs amongst the grand crus I have ever purchased. Clear ruby, slight garnet. Floral, wet stones, mushroom and game. Light and elegant. After an hour, so much licorice then emerged. I have had this wine twice, and both times it really pleased me.

This is immediately quite effusive with penetrating aromas of manure, beetroot, salted beef/beef bourguignon with bits of aging cherry, a twist of citrus-like fruit and bit of stewed tomato on the finish. Darker and more powerful than the '99 Mazoyeres from this producer, though less intricate and tame. Lacks a bit of elegance in my opinion. Drinking well at this point.

Brick red color - very advanced. Nose: red fruits (cherries), earth, mushrooms, sous bois, leather. Mouth: full bodied - mature taste, medium acidity, red fruits (strawberry, cherries), silky and elegant, interesting tannic bite, very long (35 sec finish). This wine tasted older than it actually is. 93 pt.

Crystal clear in the glass. Very pale but with hints of brown age. Clearly in its mature phase by colour but the nose is also predominantly secondary notes of mushrooms. Extremely smooth. No tannins. So light and delicate. In a perfect drinking spot.
This is punching far, far above its reputation. I was extremely pleased with this.

I did not get enough floral or fruit aroma from this wine, as I expected to have in Charmes Chambertin. Good acidity and still enough tannin for the mouth, though. I will not open another bottle for another 5 years, and I wish the secondary note will be different. 20200919 對酒當歌,日料禾月居。Completely different experience compared with previous drinking. Floral and fruity scent filled the glass. Tannin is soft. In a good drinking window. Maybe a bit too sweet and elegance was affected. Great wine after all. 92

Color: medium carmine core -> fully mature garnet rim. Waited about 60 minutes to assess . . . bouquet of grilled cherries, iodine and iron and forest floor. Medium bodied palate showing a little souis bois, cherries again, a touch of balsamic and sea salt with minerals. Held at this level for about 2 hours before falling off. Strikes me as being at the end of its plateau of maturity if not already starting down. Drink soon.

This blew me away. Very elegant wine, some new world characteristics on the nose, with a background of cigar box and forest floor. Palate is very refined with a sweet back-end. This was great from the get-go.

This bottle was excellent but showed heavier and just slightest bit more of the hot vintage on display. 92+

Mature red burgundy nose with farmyards and manure. Palate was light, and no tannin left. Past the prime.

Cork disintegrated. Good tertiary characteristics on nose but palate a bit thin and slightly acidic. Unlike most 2003 Burgs. Drink up.

cork broke on extraction. The wine wasn't really corked per se, but was musty and elderly. Wish I'd drink it sooner

No formal note. Complex and long. Like drinking a black tea! In a good sense!
