Medium ruby color. Leather, cassis cocoa on the nose; Medium bodied ; smooth tannins with dark berry flavors: smooth and well balanced tasted much better after 2 hours of air time.

Beautiful aromatics - smoky cigar box, bright red candy fruit, licorice. Full body, plush texture, great dark red fruit character, with hefty dose of vanilla and some spice. Leather on the finish. Excellent balance, with a great beaming minerality keeping this fresh. Elegant.

Lightly smoked red fruit and Tootsie Pop aromas show classic Rutherford dust. Plush, full bodied, and succulent, the palate offers generous amounts of fruit and complexity propped up by a well endowed backbone of structure. Nicely done.

Opened for several hours and joined friends at NY Prime for a BV dinner. The nose is solid with oak and green notes. The color is deep ruby red and a very youthful wine. As I swirled it, the wine has deep dark berries, cassis, blackberry, toast notes, complex tannins, and I got some acidity that the other folks below didn't. That acidity complemented a steak and creamed spinach. IMHO, for the money, it's a stupid good deal.

A very good wine but I think we drank it a bit too early as it was very tight and youthful. Believe that some more time in the bottle will help this get even better. Deep ruby red with taste of cherry and dark berries. No acidity but the tannins were so tight you can see they will only smooth out and get better with time. A Finish that was full but lacking for right now.

A steal when you get it on sale this cab drinks like ones twice as expensive. Nice fruity palate with smooth tannic finish. Great with Christmas dinner.
BV's 2016 Rutherford Cabernet is an opaque ruby blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot and 2% Malbec, aged for 15 months in a combination of French, American and Hungarian oak (60% new). Gradually opening after two hours of aeration, it delivers an attractive package of cassis, blackberries, cedar, licorice, bittersweet chocolate and bay leaves. Full-bodied, freshly acidic, seamlessly alcoholic (14.6%) and with substantial rustic tannins, it delivers its flavors with a complementary aliquot of creamy oak. Solid on the mid-palate, it moves on to a medium-to-long finish that carries more than a hint of tannic grip. Give this young Cab some additional cellar time. It may warrant a higher score in the future. Drink 2022-2031.

The wine looks purple colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, apricot, plum, cherry, pineapple, mineral, pine, oak, tobacco and bell pepper. It tastes like blackberry, raspberry, cherry, plum, mineral and oak. The body is medium. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

Managing expectations... Entitlement is a trait this BV will not tolerate. You will not get something good without putting in a little bit of effort yourself. This wine requires patience. Followed two glasses over most of the night and the BV is just starting to reveal itself.
More purple than expected. Deeply saturated and mysteriously dark. Nose is straight cassis, tobacco, touch of fennel and gypsum. Quite muted, but attractive after 5 hours.
The mouthfeel is good and finishes with grainy tannins. Flavors are clean and match the nose. Balance is pretty solid given the early drinking window.
If you want complexity, look elsewhere for now. With a little work, you may get what you are looking for. At this time, the 2015 I opened last night is more complete and clearly the better wine.

Solid Napa cabernet with all the notes we like from the varietal. Dark color, supple tannins, deep fruit, casis, tobacco, pepper on the finish. Opens up a bit after an hour or two. Probably an excellent expression of a traditional, old school Napa cab.

Classic BVRutherford. Not up to days of yore but as good as I hoped. Everything about it is medium. Cassis on the nose jumps out and carries through all the way. A hint of Rutherford Dust. Medium body. Tannins, not quite fine- OK medium. Medium finish. Very classy though. I think the winemaker found a good through-line for a relatively high production cuvée in a great year. For medium term drinking, of course. Have it with food, it will do its job.

BV is back baby! This reminds me of the mid 90s when Rutherford dust had meaning. It is fruity without being jammy, tannic, slight hot (alcohol) and minerals. Reminding me now if a good French wine. Had with steak. Yummy yummy.

Dark and dense color. Aromas of blackcurrant jam. Sweet and jammy also on the palate. Maybe not a perfect bottle.

Solid BV Rutherford. Fruit is still on the youthful side. Needs a couple of years to hit its stride.
