CV1 Beautiful metallic yellow Ripe yellow fruit, melon, peach, spice Rather full bodied, mA, h-B, dry, some bitterness on the balanced finish. Drink now-2030 or maybe longer This has certainly evolved since last visit May 2021.

In 2017, “Chevalier de Sterimberg” was Jaboulet’s top Hermitage Blanc since no “La Chapelle” Blanc was made. Popped and poured; served just below cellar temp and enjoyed over the course of an hour. The wine pours a light gold with medium+ viscosity. On the nose, the 2017 is still developing with notes of pear, orange marmalade, lemon, stone fruit, honeydew, honey, chamomile and granite minerals. On the palate, I’m getting more than expected acid which I would rate at medium. The finish is long and has surprising (and welcome!) minerality. This has matured very well in the last few years (this is better than my previous bottle) and I expect it will continue to do so through 2032. This was a sublime pairing with our annual seafood boil.

This is OK and still alive without any tertiary caramel, which is a relief. Nice complex notes of pear, hints of lychee, vanilla and ripe white peach. Medium plus weight, nice oily feel on the palate. Acidity is good. Long and complex. Drink now unless you like tertiary notes.

Clean but has enough life and sophistication to it that it kept offering new notes over an hour drinking window. At a whopping 14.5% this blanc leaves behind the traits of a heavy hitter and opens up to expressions of passion fruit, kiwi, cantaloupe, and pear. There’s a bit of apricot (plenty on the nose) and it’s rounded off with minerals and fresh oak. This borderlines on a dessert wine with its thickness - comprised of 70% marsanne & 30% roussane - paired with porcini and truffle ravioli + black truffle oil infused pesto, this made for a fantastic night.

Stunning wine here. Originally I favoured the Condrieu but as time has passed I keep finding myself coming back to this one and retasting in my head leading me to flip the two. Nose is bright, expressive and full of yellow kiwi rind, beeswax, flowers, peach and melon. Palate continues consistently, with a full expression and a complex array of tropical fruits, floral notes, pinapple, honey and wet stone. Medium + acidity here and just lovely on all fronts, such a delightful and complex wine.
Pale yellow. Initially intriguing whiff of burnt plastic, dust and grapefruit which is not unpleasant, but gives way to glorious aromas of flowers, almond, peach, melon, constantly evolving as the wine aerates. The texture is slightly oily and rich. Flavour super-complex, peach and melon again, subtle oak with a refreshing, balancing acidity. There is almost a flavour like spiced grappa in the finish. Superb.

Sweetness: Dry, Acidity: High, Alcohol: Medium, Body: Medium(+), Flavor intensity: Medium(+), Aromas of: Ripe Green Apple, Fresh Lemon Juice, Wet Stones, Cucumber, Elderflower, Hints of Pyrizines (Bellpepper), and a Smoky hint. Finish: Long
In Conclusion, a good wine that still needs time to develop more potencial, seems very agable due to the acid and overall balance. The wine is very refined. Drink again in 3-4 years 92-96/100 JP

PnP. Beautiful yellow with green reflections. Discrete aroma of melon, pear. Racy on the palate, mA, rather soft fruit, refreshing bitterness in the finish. Drink now or wait for more complexity.

Ripe tropical fruit, minerality, honeycomb on the nose. All carry through on the palate, along with the ripe pineapple, ripe apple, dried herbs, citrus zest, baking spices, and toast. The wine has the acid, along with the focus and precision to age. However, it is also delicious right now. I am so glad I bought a bottle to drink now and one to lay down. Do the same. You won’t be disappointed now or later.

A tad too early to drink, but delicious nonetheless. Lemons, butter, apricots, flowers, pear and tons of minerals on the nose. Full and balanced on the palate with a richness that stays on the tongue. Medium tannins and acid giving way to saltiness, honey, apple, apricot, and other "Chardonnay-type" qualities.

I get some brioche, honeysuckle and hard candy on the nose. Mouth is rich, fresh, full, honeyed, tropical, I swear maybe papaya here. Mouth watering. Stays.

l'il rob visiting golden hue, shimmering nutty, melon nose, cotton candy, sea air Great acidity, more melon, longish finish, gooseberry, well balanced. Should age well. High QPR (-1pt) A little rounder and more full bodied than I would have expected. A very good wine for sure. Will be looking forward to my next bottle in five years or so.

Transparent yellow-gold. Nose was a bit closed to start eventually giving way to some yellow tropical fruits with a hint of caramel. Medium bodied with a lovely creamy mouthfeel. Some underlying fruits, particularly apples, but dominated by the oak right now. There was lots of great things going on in this wine, but they just have not come together yet. Still really enjoyable today, but I think it will be fantastic in a few years.

Pale straw color. Not having very few Hermitage Blancs, in fact this was probably my first, I was really looking forward to finally trying a Sterimberg. Portrays a green melon character, but very dry with very little perceptible sweetness. Classic waxiness and fun to swirl around to easily the glass to view the oily / viscous texture of the wine. A bit simple initially, this hit more complexity as it warmed and was almost optimal at darn near room temp. Perhaps this gains with time, but at $60, I’m not really sure this is really re purchase for me as I can cherry pick some nice Durand St Peray $24 or even the terrific Faury St Joseph Blanc for $35. Great label though!

Popped and poured; served slightly chilled. I wanted to try one of these in their youth so I can track development. At this stage, everything is very primary and rather simple...but there’s a lot of potential. In the glass, this is a beauty to behold; appearing the dance in the glass. At this stage in development, it’s all melons (think cantaloupe) and pastilles. The finish is long and waxy which I find typical of young Marsanne and Roussanne. Decent acid and minerality. Time will tell if these can develop into something much more interesting but it’s a very good wine for now. I will try again in 2027.

At Tasting Event...Hmm, 1st try of these blancs from the region. If I had to say something it would be that this reminded and had some tastes similar to a Riesling, so therefore automatically like. Was a small pour after some reds, although did clean glass 1st. Served to us chilled from bottle. Tasting score 89; wish knew more info to share on these, time to dig in deeper.
