Kind of disappointing for a 17 OR, but still pretty good. Pop and pour (should have decanted, but this got 1 hr slow ox instead). On the node: closed, with soft earth and wild strawberry and cinnamon spice. On the palate: good acidity, pretty density with strawberry and a mineral topnote...acidity picks up toward the end, and the tannin is very soft on the spicy finish.

This is still a bit closed, but has enough fruit to hint at the future. Concentrated strawberry notes with some blue fruit undertones. Elegant, refined nose with floral notes. Palate is a lovely mix of fresh acidity and bright red fruit, chalky finish. Kinda interesting white pepper notes mixed in the finish as well. Continued to improve through the evening.

Tons of interest in this terrific Pinot. Red fruits transition to cherry cola to darker cherry across the palate. A finishing element of toffee or almost Nutella. Plenty of presence with the velvet glove that is Pinot Noir. I could see this being a nice Filet or other lean steak wine.

This was not as compelling as other bottles I’ve had of this wine. Is it in an in-between age?

Savory. Lots of mineral. Relatively little fruit. Enjoyable!

Fairly light and easy to drink. Not too much fruit

Jim Anderson / PGC dinner - Etzel Block Vertical and Blind Tasting (New England): Crimson. Some vitamin notes on nose. Very typical for PGC, though more pepper than others I've had. Animalistic character. Should last.
